Great hotel and restaurant and very accessible. Recommended

What a surprise. We thought 'where have we ended up?'. But we had a great time. Great room with great beds. The narrowest bathroom we have experienced, but perfectly fine. The food was also a surprise. Were told we had to wait due to... a group that were in front of us. But it was worth the wait (30 min) The owner does everything by herself in the kitchen. We opted for the veal schnitzel. What a recommendation! the next morning she was ready for breakfast again, simple but excellent. In short, an (older) couple who run a hotel/restaurant in a very nice way. Saw a review saying it was reminiscent of Fawlty Towers. That's right. our prejudice upon arrival was completely unjustified.

Appearances are deceptive

A restaurant where a standard dish (pork fillet with green beans and mashed potatoes) is no longer possible at 6:30 p.m. because it would take 45 minutes, and on a Sunday at that! No offer, perhaps with a different side dish. It gets worse: When we then decided on chicken schnitzel (breast) with mushroom sauce and French fries, we were optimistic. But instead of fries, we were served fried potato slices with the skin on. In some cases, only the skin was fried, no potatoes. The mushroom sauce tasted like it came out of a packet. In our defense, the chicken breast was cooked to perfection, but far too oily. Overall, the service was not recommendable for our taste. We were glad we didn't choose an expensive dish.

Hotel without entrance...

In February 2020 we called the hotel for availability of 2 rooms.
This was possible so we drove to the hotel.
It was raining, it was dark when we arrived, no ideal circumstances to enter a hotel.
Luckily there was a clear parking spot/place in front of the hotel, there were clear signs to the entrance of the hotel building.
When we pushed the ring (there was no reception kind of entrance), it appeared that this was not (!) the entrance of the hotel. The person was not able to explain where the entrance was so we tried to investigate ourselves.
In the rain we tried to walk to another door which was closed, the other parking place did not have an opening to the hotel either. So after 10 minutes we decided to leave and search for another place to stay.

Food excellent service like Faulty Towers

We didn't stop at the hotel but ate in the restaurant. When we arrived there were 4 people sat at the bar, we asked if we could eat and the man shrugged and called his wife. She said could we wait as they had a party of 8. We said yes, so we were shown in to the dining room which would seat around 30-40 people.
Thirty minutes later we were brought a menu, then 4 Germans arrived. The man took their drinks order and gave them menus. My husband asked if we could order drinks which we did. The drinks arrived and 40 minutes later our order finally taken. Meanwhile, people from the party of 8 left and others joined their groups.
Our food arrived an hour later. It was delicious and plentiful. The food was obviously made fresh to order and was worth the wait.
Whilst we were eating 2 Polish men arrived and asked if they could eat, the man shrugged his shoulders and said they would have to wait as they were extremely busy. He was gesticulating to show there was a party of 8, a table of 4 and a table of 2! As we left they were just being served.
We found the whole evening hilarious as we watched gesticulations and facial expressions.
If you want an exquisite, delicious meal this is the place to visit but if you need to eat quickly and want polite, welcoming staff then go somewhere else.

Bad service but Nice place

Checked in a bit late in the evening, due to traffic, and immediately felt that that was not ok. Both the man and the woman working there was almost rude both when we checked in and when we were 5 minutes late to breakfast. Rooms were great, with great beds and good pressure in the shower, but a bit dated interiors. If the staff learns service this place would be great.
