Our Superior Double Room felt like a private cottage, with its own entrance, spacious bedroom and sitting area, large bathroom with jacuzzi tub, and outdoor seating. Thick stone walls and shutters kept the room naturally cool, so air conditioning was rarely needed.
Breakfast was excellent, served indoors or on a terrace with spectacular mountain views. We also enjoyed dinner one evening. The food and service were excellent, though prices were higher than in the village. A more casual daytime menu would be welcome for snacks.
The pool was rarely crowded, but shade was limited. The same was true of the restaurant terrace, where a larger roof would improve comfort. Opening the dining room to the outdoors creates a lovely atmosphere but also attracts flies.
The poolside lounge, terrace, and bar are underused. Offering drink menus, light snacks, and more shade would make these spaces more inviting.
Overall, the resort has a relaxed, luxurious atmosphere that we thoroughly enjoyed. The indoor pool beside the spa offers a quieter alternative, though direct access to the adjoining terrace would make it even better.

A relaxing mountain retreat
The photos and reviews do not do the property justice. The resort is small, with about 26 rooms spread across several stone buildings on several levels of the mountainside above the charming village of Aristi.
We stayed in a Superior Double Room, like a private cottage with its own entrance, a spacious bedroom and sitting area with a fireplace (unused during our summer visit), a large bathroom with a jacuzzi tub, and a small seating area in the outdoor space outside the room. The stone construction of the building, with five small windows that opened and sun blocking shutters, was such that even when it was very hot outside we could have fresh air come in a rarely needed to have the air conditioning on.
The main building features a large lounge and dining room where an excellent buffet breakfast is served. Guests can dine indoors or on the expansive terrace, which offers spectacular panoramic views of the village and surrounding mountains. The same space is used for lunch and dinner with a seasonal menu.
We had dinner at the restaurant one evening. The food was very good, the service excellent, though prices were somewhat higher than in the village below. The terrace would benefit from a permanent roof or larger overhang, as the fixed umbrellas provide little shade for much of the day. Also, while the open dining room doors beautifully connect the space to the outdoors, they also let in quite a few flies. We’d also suggest a more casual menu for day time. There are many times we would have gone over for a snack.
Shade is also an issue around the nice outdoor pool. Although some reviewers find it small, we found it rarely crowded. The greater challenge was finding a shaded lounger, as the three umbrellas covered only a small portion of the seating.
Next to the pool is a largely unused lounge/conference hall, with a side terrace and bar. Staff provided each guest with a pitcher of water and served drinks on request, but we’d like to see drink menus and light snacks available.
An upper terrace overlooking the pool was also rarely used. Adding more shade and introducing casual food and beverage service would likely make it a more appealing and active space.
Overall, the resort has a relaxed, luxurious atmosphere that we thoroughly enjoyed. It attracted several families with young children, which was only disruptive a couple of times. The indoor pool beside the spa, which we did not use, could provide a quieter alternative. We would have liked to see the doors opened to the adjacent terrace, with a few outdoor loungers as shown in some promotional photos. As it stands, the indoor pool has only open windows to the outside and no direct access to enjoy the sun.

Be aware the property has many steps but visiting the Zagoria region requires much climbing up and down as you tour the many villages and sights.
We enjoyed the indoor pool and the friendly staff. Highly recommended!

only disappointment was that there is nowhere to sunbathe outside of the summer season as the outdoor pool area closed
