Great location, walking distance to syntagma, and Thisio and Monastiraki.
The quality of the rooms, which have a fridge (a must for the summer time) and of the breakfast surely means the hotel deserves 3 starts!!
The staff are very friendly and on the last day that i had to leave at 3:30am to catch the airport bus, they had prepared for me breakfast to go, which was fantastic.
This is the second year ive stayed here while making a brief stop in Athens.
Highly recommended.

good price, location is walkable to the ancient athens things, and included breakfast, all for a cheap price, hotel isnt the best but either than that cant complain

Very good and affordable in central Athens
Let's be objective!
This is officially a two star hotel and you cannot expect luxury accommodation. In my opinion, the hotel deserves a third star. I agree that the location is excellent (in the vicinity of Omonia square, Monastiraki square, the attractive places such as Plaka of Psiri, even though it is a run-down neighbourhood of central Athens. Keep in mind that there is, for example, a 4-star hotel (Fresh hotel) in the same street.
The Economy Hotel itself offers very decent accommodation (good mattresses in the beds), a very decent buffet breakfast (real orange juice, rolls, toast, eggs, cheese, ham, fruit and great Greek yogurt in large quantities), a machine for all possible types of coffee, etc.). Even if you come down around 9.30 when breakfast ends you will find it all on the table. The rooms are cleaned every day, the mini fridge works well, the air conditioner too, and it is especially useful that there is a safe in each room (free of charge). WiFi works great on the floor where the room is.
Although I, as a frequent visitor to Athens during the past several decades, did not need the receptionist's advice, I am surprised by their kind and patient explanation to newly arrived guests - where, what and how? And, finally, don’t forget to take the elevator to the 9th floor where there is a large terrace with a view of the city, including the Parthenon. All in all, I'm very pleased to have spent nine days here.
P.S. As for the adjacent porn cinema (this is the last remaining in Athens as far as I know, so it's almost a historical spot :), close your eyes when you pass by and keep in mind that there are several sex shops on Singrou Avenue right next to the 5-star hotels! This is Athens for God's sake. My rating: 4.5.

Cheap Hotel in Athens
I didn't have high expectations mainly because I was on a tight budget and had 5 nights to spend in Athens, I needed somewhere cheap and central. I will start with the good stuff, the hotel was central, it was clean, there was daily room service and the air con worked. However, it was located in a very dirty and smelly street in front of a porn cinema, the lift broke down and my daughter fell when going down a spiral staircase and the breakfast even though included in the price, it was the worst I have ever eaten, old bread, tin fruit, chewy plastic-like fried eggs and not very varied. Avoid it if you can.

Great location within walking distance of Acropolis and wirh views of it from rooftop terrace. Good choice of breakfast buffet items. Front desk manned 24/7 and staff answered questions promptly before our stay to help our travel plans.
