Read all reviews and consider very carefully prior to booking
We stayed at Philippos & Alexandros Apartments for nine nights, and unfortunately this was one of the most disappointing places we've stayed in for many years.
The biggest issue is that the property is not beachfront as advertised. It is actually located behind an ATV/quad bike hire shop and what appears to be a bar stock yard. There is no beach or sea view whatsoever, which was very misleading when booking.
The apartment itself was decent enough and reasonably clean, but it lacked basic items. There was no toaster, although there was a George Foreman-style contact grill. The kitchen utensils were very limited, making self-catering more difficult than it should have been, and there were no staff on site to discuss any issues or concerns.
Customer service was extremely poor once we had arrived. We requested an additional pillow and had to wait 28 hours before one was provided. Even worse, when we needed to contact the host, none of our phone calls were answered. We eventually contacted Booking.com, who attempted to call the host themselves and later informed us that they also received no answer. That is simply unacceptable when guests need assistance.
We also reported a very unpleasant sewage smell, along with another foul odour coming from the air handling unit (AHU) area. Despite raising both issues with the host, nothing was done to investigate or resolve them during our stay.
The Wi-Fi was extremely poor throughout our stay, and neither television worked despite being advertised. We weren't on holiday to watch TV, but it's nice to have it on while getting ready or having breakfast. Facilities that are advertised should work.
The outdoor areas were also disappointing. Sitting at the back meant being eaten alive by insects, while sitting at the front meant dealing with numerous wasps gathering around the air conditioning drain pipe in search of water. Even if that wasn't the case, the only view is of the quad bike hire shop.
Before travelling we requested a late check-out. The host eventually replied just six days before our departure simply to say no. As a result, we had to find and pay for alternative accommodation for around 12 hours while waiting for our flight home.
We checked out at 10:00 am on our final day and spent the remaining time at the hotel next door while waiting for our evening flight. The difference in quality was immediately noticeable. The neighbouring hotel was far superior in terms of facilities, atmosphere and customer service, making us wish we had booked there instead.
Communication before we arrived was very good, but once we had checked in it became almost non-existent. The apartment is also a very long walk from the main resort area, something worth considering if you don't have transport.
Overall, we do not feel this property offers value for money and, in our opinion, it is one of the worst places we have stayed in for years. We would strongly recommend thinking long and hard before booking. We have photographs, call records and email correspondence, including communication with Booking.com, to support everything we have stated in this review.
