I went with my husband for 6 days, the HRA hotel in the heart of the center of Kalamata. With all the cafes, bars, restaurants, confectioneries a few meters walking. Also the hotel has parking, very helpful as in summer you can not easily find in the city. The service of the reception, the girls at breakfast and the cleanliness of the room perfect!! Gentle staff, willing to help, always with a smile on the lips..because something happened to us and especially Mrs Maria at the reception did a great effort to help us and we thank her warmly! Breakfast with a wide variety of fresh ingredients and traditional! The cleanliness in the room is excellent. The only negative on the balcony on the roof have a led lighting and when n shuts off in the evening enters a little light into the room. The next time I visit Kalamata again I will go back to Hera Hotel.

Solid, no-frills base in a great location
I stayed at the IRA-HPA Hotel in the heart of Kalamata and found it a perfectly comfortable, straightforward place to stay. The location is excellent—very central, which made exploring the city easy. The hotel itself is clean and well-kept, with friendly, helpful staff who went out of their way to assist.
The room is simple in design but functional and well-suited for one or two people. The bed was comfortable, there was enough space for my belongings, and the room stayed quiet. My view was mainly the wall of the neighboring building, so there wasn’t much to look at outside, but that didn’t detract from the overall experience. Breakfast was a highlight: a pleasant selection that included some Greek options, served in a bright seating area by the windows. The breakfast hostess (a delightful woman from Montreal) was warm and gracious—it made the morning feel welcoming.
A couple of local quirks are worth noting. As is common in this part of Greece, toilet paper (and any sanitary items, even “flushables”) cannot go in the toilet—they go in a small bin nearby. There’s a clear sign reminding guests. Also, some of the design choices felt a bit awkward; the hairdryer, for example, was plugged into an outlet positioned right above the hand-soap dispenser, making the soap tricky to use.
On the positive side, the hotel provided complementary bottled water plus a nice welcome gift of wine and local snacks. At checkout they kindly stored my bag for several hours so I could continue exploring before my next stop—something I really appreciated.
Overall, IRAHPA isn’t flashy or particularly exciting, but it’s clean, comfortable, well-located, and the staff are genuinely helpful. If you’re looking for a simple, reliable place to stay in central Kalamata with a good breakfast and practical service, it does the job well.

Excellent experience!
Our stay was excellent.
The breakfast was very good, with variety, quality and traditional products of the place.
The location of the hotel in the center of Kalamata is ideal.
The staff kind, smiling and always willing. A special reference to Elena of the spa for her excellent services, as well as to Salvation for her kindness and kindness.
Parking within 3 minutes walk was very convenient.
The family room perfectly met our needs.

The hotel is very modern and well maintained. Staff all very helpfull and breakfast is great. The location is right at the busy area of the old town but for me i was looking for more authentic Greek food experience, so do walk a bit more north to find this as the restaurants in the area are very modern.
