Fabulous Hotel, always sad to leave

The Astoria has a superb location, right on the beach, hotel is family run, and your well looked after, all the staff are so friendly and will do anything to help you. Food is excellent, nice breakfast, lovely snack menu at lunchtime, or you can have a full dinner menu, evening meals are really good value for money, and many choices. Rooms are very clean and many have been refurbished, family are continually updating the rooms, so all will have walk in showers. We have been going for over 10 yrs, and wouldn't go anywhere else in Alykes.

Really rude staff on reception and at breakfast

This hotel is quite dated but perfectly clean and ideally located on the beachfront. The room we had was spacious and faced the front of the hotel. There’s a €15 per day charge for sunbeds in line with any other beachfront hotels in this area due to the Greek government taxes.
The food in the restaurant is really lovely, reasonably priced and of good quality. The breakfast is basic but what lets it down is the females who serve breakfast, I think they either own the hotel or their family does. I’ve never known such rude people. Shouting at guests, openly excited to adhere to the closing time and deliberately being unhelpful. They also openly talked about the guests for everyone to hear, it was quite bizarre and comical if it wasn’t so rude.
Out shower was not attached to the wall so we decided to use the bath. When we let the water out of the bath, it flooded the whole hotel room. We obviously had to report this to the receptionist as we were unable to let the water out and she reprimanded us for using the bath and said the Greek plumbing wasn’t like the plumbing in the U.K.! I explained to her we’d only used the bath given the shower wasn’t attached to the wall and it was tricky to shower holding it but we were made to feel like idiots and that we were in the wrong!
The hotel is listed on the Tui site as having a pool, it does not.
Alykes is a beautiful area and we’d certainly return but not to this hotel and that’s because of how rude the owners/breakfast staff are.

Poor

I went here attracted by the beachfront location. I found the female owners very rude towards me as a female traveller, luckily this is the only time I've had this reception in Greece. Could have put up with the poor rooms otherwise.

Cracking location!!

Perfect location. Hotel is directly onto a very clean sandy beach with free sunbeds and umbrellas.
Very central to all bars and restaurants (only 2 min walk)
We were on a bed and breakfast basis which was not brilliant!! Not much choice and no variation. But restaurant staff excellent. Very friendly and attentive. Which is more than I can say for the owner who never smiled once and was very brusque when asked a question.
Rooms very clean and sheets changed daily. Maid was excellent couldn't do enough for us.
All in all not a bad little hotel apart from the owner.

A great location

The hotel is in a perfect location, a short walk into alykes and the setting on the beach front is beautiful.
We felt like we had one of the best rooms in the hotel (room 413) with a beautiful view and it was kept lovely and clean. Breakfast is basic but there’s something for everyone and the scrambled egg was amazing and where you sit for breakfast is lovely.
The majority of staff who worked there were lovely and made a special fuss of my little girl, however there was one member of staff who manned the bar on a night who was hostile.
The only downsides were the shower curtain and whilst we were there we got stuck in the hotels lift which when we pressed the alarm button didn’t work. After shouting 6 times that we were stuck in the lift the reply was ‘yes we know’. But prior to this no one came up to let us know they had heard us shouting that we were stuck which obviously caused us some panic.

Excellent location
