Family run and family friendly but great for all ages and groups

My wife and I are currently staying at the Rodos Star Hotel in Afandou, and we can honestly say it was one of the most enjoyable and relaxing holidays we have had. From the moment we arrived until the day we left, we felt genuinely welcomed by the entire team. The hotel has a warm, family-run atmosphere that makes guests feel more like friends than visitors, and this personal touch really sets it apart. Tony and Moz were our main point of contact at the reception, and they were super helpful.
The staff throughout the hotel work incredibly hard and always do so with a smile. Nothing ever seemed too much trouble, whether we needed information about the local area, advice on places to visit, or help arranging tours and excursions around Rhodes. Their knowledge and willingness to assist made exploring the island much easier and helped us make the most of our holiday.
One of the highlights of our stay was the food. Every meal offered a good variety of dishes, with plenty of choice and something different to enjoy each day. The food was always fresh, tasty, and well presented. We particularly appreciated the mix of local Greek dishes and international favourites, allowing us to try something new while still having familiar options available. The restaurant staff were friendly and attentive, contributing to the overall positive dining experience. Also, there was always chips and pizza and the odd selection of chicken nuggets for those who have kids and those who are big kids. Desserts such as local pastries and ice cream are fabulous and plentiful.
The entertainment team also deserves special recognition. Their enthusiasm, friendliness, and energy created a fantastic atmosphere throughout the hotel. The evening entertainment was enjoyable, engaging, and a great way to spend time after a day of sightseeing or relaxing by the pool. What impressed us most was how the staff encouraged participation without ever being pushy, creating a fun and inclusive environment for everyone. In may cases those were the staff or family members working throughout the day.
Our room was modern, comfortable, spacious, and exceptionally clean. Housekeeping maintained a very high standard throughout our stay, and it was always a pleasure returning to a spotless room after a day out. The entire hotel was well cared for, with the public areas, pool, and gardens all kept clean and inviting.
The location is also excellent, offering a peaceful setting while still being close enough to explore Afandou if you wished (although that is a hill up top the hotel) and the many attractions of Rhodes. Thanks to the helpful staff and the hotel's convenient location, we were able to visit a couple of beautiful places across the island and create wonderful memories.
What makes Rodos Star Hotel truly special is the people. Every member of staff contributes to the welcoming and friendly atmosphere that makes guests want to return. Their professionalism, kindness, and dedication are evident in everything they do. Additionally we have witnessed extreme care and compassion by staff to those with special & additional needs which has touched us personally due to family members requiring such care.
Oh, there are 4 or 5 cats floating around the place and they are friendly and looking for a wee bit of affection or a little food treat. In fact, the whole island is full of cats, which by and large leave you, but alone if that's not your thing bear that in mind.
Now, personally, I burn through factor 30; we are here in the middle of June, and it is around 21 at night and up to around 31 throughout the day (from 9 am). It was very pleasant for me personally between 4.30pm and 7pm, and there was little to no cloud cover. It rained on the Thursday, and that was awesome.
Fees and charges: At this time of the year there was a modest 35 Euro resort fee, 49 Euros for the air con (so worth it) and it was 15 Euro per device for wifi access. which was super reliable and fast (we were able to watch the Scotland v Morocco World Cup game with a VPN), so it was more than up to the job.
We are feeling refreshed, happy, and already talking about returning in the future. We would highly recommend Rodos Star Hotel to couples, friends, and anyone looking for a relaxing holiday with excellent food, great entertainment, clean and comfortable accommodation, and outstanding hospitality. Thank you to everyone at the hotel for making our stay so memorable. (we travelled with TUI incase you are interested)

Small, family run amazing!

What can I say! Enjoyed at lovely week at Rodos Star. Family run hotel, and you can really feel that in the way it is run and how nice the staff are. Nice pool, lovely food, brilliant staff who work very very hard! Standard all inclusive drinks, pool bar shut a bit early in my opinion, but the main bar is very close and is open. We had a swim up room, at the back of the hotel meaning amazing views and sun all afternoon and into the evening. Sunbed wars were evident on the first day, even people had left them out the night before... however Mos came out and spoke to everyone at the pool and left us all in no doubt about the rules!! Well done, nice to see!! Information, trips, hire cars etc all can be booked with the hotel. The hill...its not that bad really just take your time especially coming back, then straight to the bar...drink then pool...!! Lol. The shop is expensive which you expect but the bonus is its 24/7, just pay at reception...great!! Food was great, with themes and good selection considering that it is a small hotel. The lunch time Gyros are sooo good cooked fresh by the chef!!
With it being small, you dont feel"lost" or just another number, you feel part of the family. On our departure Mos was at the main door and all departing guests received a personal thank you, hug and kiss (even my kids!) From her. That little touch and the family feel of the whole place topped off a great holiday. Would I go back, yes!! And I heard quite a few people say that this was their second, third etc visit to the Rodos Star, that speaks for itself!!

Good quality, clean friendly hotel

Hotel and staff absolutely fabulous. Very good choice of food which wasalways cooked excelldntly. Spotlessly clean, friendly helpful staff. Stayed for two weeks and only fault was the walk up the hill from the village as its very steep. That said we will be rebooking for next year as we felt so well looked after. Nothing was too much, lovely little shop on site incase you forget anything and first class entertainment most evenings. Cant recommend this hotel enough and ive been going to rhodes for years. First time at this hotel and certainly will be returning.

Adequate

We had a nice 10 days here but before you book just be aware its on a very steep hill , its €70 for 10 days air con in June & €50 tourist tax , we knew this before we arrived so just budget that in
Food is good especially breakfast & lunch with dinner being extremely hit & miss (mostly miss)
You can book excursions through the hotel (some are overpriced) as TUI rep barely makes an appearance
Overall its a 3 star hotel and treat it as such but massively overpriced by TUI
£2100 for 10 days is a lot taking into consideration we've been to far superior hotels with easyjet holidays for £600 less
