Best family run hotel In malia

This hotel was amazing, they treated me like family and even though I booked for the wrong dates they helped me out massively, no charges or fines for stupid stuff like a lot of hotels out in malia… cannot reccomended these guys enough 5 stars

Safe, friendly hotel for first girls holiday

My daughter has just returned from Frixos and had a fantastic time. Everyone was so friendly and helped them out, they felt completely safe, the security guard always checked they were ok on their way back from the strip. Loads of pool beds, perfect location for old town and the strip, couldn’t ask for more! Highly recommend for first holidays for 18 year olds, I slept well knowing they were safe! Great resort, cheap restaurants and loads of deals at the bars on the strip, their favourite being two doubles and a shot for six euro at Reflex. Brilliant holiday.

Great family run Hotel , who go the extra mile to ensure you will have a great stay.

We booked a cheap late deal and we weren’t sure exactly what we were going to get . I shouldn’t have worried . We didn’t arrive until 2.00am , Maria and her Brother were waiting for us, we were offered two rooms which was nice . We ended up in room 8 which was an apartment with two bedrooms and 4 beds, a kitchen and a bathroom. We also had 2 patios at 90 degrees to each other. Both bedrooms were a generous size each one was much bigger than the room we had last year in Corfu. There were plenty of cupboards, a wardrobe and places to put your cases. There is a safe and aircon ( both which you pay extra for , but we knew that and there was no pressure to purchase. ) We didn’t need the aircon, we found that opening the two patio windows there was a decent breeze that cooled the room. There were only two of us , but even using 1 bedroom we had ample room. The second bedroom housed the kitchen, which had a nice stove, cooker, fridge, sink , pots, pans , cutlery, knives , washing up liquid , pan scourers and utensils. Plenty of glasses etc. we didn’t use the kitchen to cook in , but it would be great for people who want to cook / self cater. The bathroom was also a lovely size , a decent sized shower with loads of hot water , again way bigger than anything we’ve had in previous visits to the islands . I had read other reviews and saw criticism of the breakfast by some. If you come expecting a “ full cooked English “ you will be disappointed, but there are any number of places that you can buy them from within a 10 minute walk , if that’s what you want . You can even but cooked breakfasts at the hotel should you wish. The breakfast was ideal for us , it’s a simple buffet , you can eat outside under cover and it was lovely , chatting to other guests and the owner and family who are always around. There’s toast , ( toast your own ) Ham, Salami , Cheese , Feta Cheese ( gorgeous ) fresh sliced Tomato, Cucumber , cooked sausages ( small but tasty ) cooked eggs / omelettes , fresh Orange juice , 3 types of cereal and milk and a serve yourself drinks machine for different coffees , and a range of tea bags for tea, The staff at breakfast were super , really welcoming and friendly . The pool and bar are a focal area , it was kept spotlessly clean , and as the holiday progressed ( we were there 3 weeks ) the younger crowd arrived . They clearly had a blast and the pool deck was busy , but it was a great atmosphere. We were worried it would be too noisy , but it’s only 3 minutes from the strip, we heard nothing. We did hear some of the students coming back at 4 am on several occasions, but they were trying hard to be quiet and we’ve all been there, it wasn’t an issue .Finally the cleaners , staff and family who run the hotel. They are the icing on the cake for me. It’s an older hotel , and it’s rightly classified correctly, but their efforts and diligence really lift the experience. The rooms were well cleaned and linens changed frequently. The pool , breakfast area was well managed despite being busy. The family simply cannot do enough for you , likewise the staff . I saw the owner all over on his scooter , always a wave and a chat . Their efforts were really appreciated. Thank you for a superb 3 weeks.

Beware of expectations if using this hotel.

This has potential to be a lovely hotel but unfortuantely the management do not want to spend any money on the hotel. The sink in our bathroom was a serious health and safety concern as it was not attached to the wall correctly and only loosely placed on top of the pedestal and if gently leaned against would move away from the wall and move. The mirror was also not hung to the wall properly and was losely fixed and with any slight movement came away from the wall. The shower did not work as it should, as the head of the shower was broken / loose and so the spray instead of spraying on us, sprayed against the wall only. Each time we showered we had to remove the shower head and hold it over us. The hand wash bottle in the bathroom was broken on arrival. There was a dirty bucket, mop and brush which was left in our bathroom at all times and was expected to remain there for the duration of the holiday. On arrival there was a disgusting used kitchen cloth and scourer which looked like it had been there for weeks, which we were expected to use for our holiday. One of the bedroom bulbs was not working above the bed. One of the bed sheets on arrival was dirty and when asked to replace the man checking us in said it was too late to replace tonight but told us to get the cleaners to replace in the morning. 3 of the pillowcases also had stains on them and again were not replaced until the following morning. The toilets by the bar had no toilet seats on them, and were difficult / unhygenic to use. We paid to have breakfast which is advertised as being served in a breakfast room. This was an extremely basic breakfast and not worth the cost and was served in the bar area and no breakfast room in site. There was a broken seat for the duration of the holiday at the swim up pool bar.The hotel advertised the use of a steam bath and whirlpool within the facilities, both of these were not available and were an additional cost to use. There were two pool tables both which had very concerning stains on them and were very unclean and in a disgusting state. The pool tables did not work correctly and we had to keep getting the man to get the balls out for us even though we were charged for each game we played. There were 3 pool cues, but only one of them was able to be used as the other two had no tips to them. There was no air conditioning in the room and was an additional 60 euros to use. We never saw a Tui representive for the whole time we were on holiday, and we were not left any messages or had any check in messages to make sure everything was o.k with our holiday. Location was good, about a five minute walk to the main town.
