Amazing little hotel that is just far enough from town to be quiet, but close enough to still enjoy everything. The rooms looked just like the pictures and the staff was great. By only complain was that the bath towels were basically oversized bath towels.

Nice relaxing stay

The hotel is only a ten minute walk from the heart of the old town, but it makes it quiet for sleeping and night noise, so a bonus. Reception friendly and can pick you up from the port if you ask them ( cost 20 euros). Hotel is small with rooms arranged around main reception. Our room was big, very clean and maid service daily replacing towels etc. Great toiletries supplied in bathroom including hair conditioner. Air con in rooms made sleeping at night good.
Breakfast was fine, I’ve had better but it was all the usual cold cereals etc, fruit and hot offers , eggs, bacon, sausages etc, kept hot in largestainless steel containers with lids.Coffee machine kept breaking down, but hopefully that’s fixed now. White tablecloths on tables and staff available to clear and clean tables promptly. We hired a car from hotel car hire desk for a very reasonable daily fee. Small plunge pool at hotel and rooftop area for sunbathing etc. A short walk to St George’s beach, where beds can be hired for 30-40 euros for a set of two plus umbrella.
All in all we had a lovely 10 days at this hotel and value for money wise I’d recommend it.

The Argos boutique hotel was a great place to stay! Walking distance to lots of shopping, restaurants and the beach and included a good breakfast. Service was absolutely excellent!! Would stay there again.

Poor experience

Overall, I would not recommend staying here. The photos online are not reflective of the pool size or the overall vibe of the hotel. We found the staff to be very dismissive and rude when asking for basic things such as water. When we asked if there was somewhere to refill our water or if they had drinking water, we were told that they didn’t provide this and we needed to buy our own, we were fine with this but the tone we were told in was horrible. In a place where the weather is very hot and you need to stay hydrated, to be told “what do we expect, it’s an island” and to be told by a staff member “even me, I have to buy it” and shaking his bottle of water at us when simply asking where we can get water, is not on. This was an obvious issue amongst all guests as every morning you could see people filling up multiple bottles from the jug of water provided at breakfast. We also had several issues with our shower in the time we stayed (which was only five nights) the first time we didn’t report anything to the hotel, as we didn’t notice anything wrong, went to the beach for the day and when we popped back into the room at around lunchtime there was a random man in there taking the shower off the wall and screws all over the place. The man spoke no English, which is fine, but as three young women to come back and find a man in your room with no prior warning is intimidating. We asked at reception what was wrong and they just said there was an issue which we were confused about. The second time, we came back to our room at 5pm and there was a note on the bed saying there was an issue with the bathroom and that we could not use it at all. This was poor communication as once we went down to reception, it transpired that actually it was only an issue with the hot water and this meant they had had to turn it off. This meant we were left without a shower after a day at the beach. When we spoke to reception they were rude and just told us it was one of those things and they had no other rooms for us to use and we would have to use the showers in the hotel basement. Again, if this had been communicated to us nicely, it would have been less of an issue but it was the tone and manner which made us feel dismissed and like we as the guests had done something wrong. The staff at breakfast were also rude and acted like we were in the way when we were just self serving. Throughout our stay, we felt discriminated against and treated differently for being three young women rather than a couple or family and this was reflected in the way we were spoken to and treated when raising the above issues or in general at breakfast, etc.
Pro:
Location to town and beach
Basic room which was overall fine
Cons:
Staff rudeness
Cockroaches in room
Access to drinking water
People being let into our room without prior warning
