An exceptional stay
We have just returned from a truly enjoyable stay at Lagada Resort that exceeded all expectations. The value for money is truly exceptional. Despite having chosen one of the cheapest options (garden view apartment) we found ourselves a small but functional studio, fresh and clean and with a partial surprise sea view. The only drawback of the apartment was the scarcity of kitchen tools (absence of cutting boards / colanders or similar and few cutlery) and for cleaning (however we requested at reception a broom that was then given to us) but otherwise I would say that we had nothing to complain about. The pools are large and there are always sun loungers or tables available, while the beach in front of the hotel is almost always deserted. The car is indispensable to reach Makry Gialos and nearby taverns but I recommend going east and exploring the beautiful beaches of Kalo Nero.

Lack of responsibility from management for these privately owned apartments
Starting with positives, lovely clean hotel with good sized pools and great snack bar. We had a villa which was spacious and a great size for 4 people, right on the poolside. Although there wasn’t anything within walking distance we were able to book a taxi (giving a couple of hours notice) to the local beach and village for food and shops.
Negative - this really disappointed me especially as it was my first stay in Crete. A few weeks before our break we were confirming rooms with the manager, we were offered an upgrade to villa B21 (for an extra charge) with a 80sq metre furnished rooftop (from their website - this luxurious terrace features comfortable seating, a spacious sunbathing and lounging area and an additional space for dining, so you really are spoilt for choice). We arrived really late on the first day and noticed there was only a picnic bench on the rooftop but assumed they were sorting this for us the next day. When this wasn’t done I contacted the manager to be told that ‘the owners hadn’t left any cushions’. I was confused as I had booked through Lagada and didn’t realise these were privately owned, however as I explained to the manager the villa was not as advertised. We had upgraded purely based on the rooftop terrace which was unusable. The next day the manager brought 3 deck chairs (for 4 people) from the snack bar and just continued to say the owners hadn’t provided cushions (neither had they provided loungers or a seating area apart from a very old picnic bench!). What was even worse was the rooftop next door was absolutely beautiful with seating, loungers and a bbq, it looked amazing and exactly what we were expecting! I asked if there would be a refund as the place was certainly not as advertised and I would never have ‘upgraded’ to this, but was advised it wasn’t their fault it was the ‘owners’! I feel like I was totally conned and the management would take no responsibility for this.

Great stay
Superb complex with 2 swimming pools at the top, the view is magnificent sea and mountain and the reception team very helpful
The undeveloped beach is 250/300 m away on foot.
5 min by car I beach with beach
Club, entrance to the gorges.
On the other side, 2 km away, the village of Makrygialos with all the amenities (restaurant, water games, store, etc.)

Heavenly place
Idyllic resort, a dream place on earth.
The rooms are superb, clean and very well organized, bedding, kitchen, bathroom and large balcony.
In addition we had a roof terrace which is an undeniable plus.
From the balcony or terrace, superb view of the bay, and magnificent views of the sea with a splendid sunset
Lots of outdoor space and several large swimming pools.
It's really very very beautiful
And next to beautiful beaches accessible on foot and the pretty village 5 minutes by car of Makry Gialos with its restaurants, shops and small port.
There are many things to see and visit nearby and this is the guarantee of a great, relaxing vacation.
There is parking, which is very practical, and wifi everywhere.
The reception staff are perfect as well as the cleaning ladies.
In addition Ierapetra is 20-30 minutes by car for a large city if necessary.
We were there at the end of October and great sunshine ☀️, 25 degrees and pleasant swimming in the sea.
We did not find any negative points about this Lagada Resort accommodation.

Moderate resort, not a resort
Narrow beds not comfortable mattresses....mosquitoes in the area and insufficient screens...lack of elevators to move inside the hotel dozens of steps....A very narrow unpassable dirt road with betobergs cut the access to the upper parking lot...The sea in relation nearby but without normal access on foot ...no one uses it. Finally, the pools are narrow and shallow, aimed at children
