Wonderful!!!

For the third time this year I went back to Villa Amalia, and for the third time the experience was great, indeed magnificent. The view and the panorama: breathtaking. The location: easy to reach and strategic: secluded, but without being far from the beaches of Kouremenos and Chiona or the town of Palaikastro. The comfort of the structure: very high (well equipped kitchen, everything spotless and if one needs it there is 'even the washing machine!). The single two-storey villas, while attached to each other, still guarantee privacy because the single spaces are well delimited and intelligently separated. You park directly in front of the door of the house without problems. If you want, there is 'everything to even have a nice barbecue in the garden (well-kept). All around, beautiful olive groves that guarantee tranquility '. - The price: reasonable, especially in high season (my advice: contact the property directly: the new managerin, Virginie, and 'very good and responds immediately. Together with her husband Manolis, a professional photographer, she also runs a beautiful shop in the center of Palaikastro where they sell - among other things (books, ceramics, olive wood objects etc.) - local products such as oil, honey and aromatic herbs, but not of the usual tourist type: pop in and you'll see, it really is a different shop to the others! Downtown, at the church, turn left. That's 20 meters. Terra Elaia is called).

Relaxing observatory

Great location to explore the area, equidistant between the main beaches and the villages of the region.
Surrounding gardens well maintained and nicely decorated, free parking for your sine qua non car, well equipped clean appartments.
During day time a wonderful view of the hills around and the sea at a distance. At night you can enjoy the sounds of the nature and the full of stars sky.

Great View

We spent a really pleasant week in one of the small houses of Villa Amalia with superb look over the beach of Kouremenos (from two private terraces). By the beach are several nice restaurants. The palmbeach of Vai is 10 min drive.
Very friendly owners!
Absolutely recommended.

peaceful

This is a lovely place, just outside the town of Palekastro. It's not far to the airport of Sitia, just 30 minutes drive. The flats are spacious, with beautiful views of the garden. And the sea, at short distance!

Great, comfortable place for family holiday.

We spent 8 nights in Villa Amalia in a quite spacious apartment which is attached to owner's house. We had a fabulous view from both terraces with a bbq, a table with chairs so we could eat outside and even we had deck chairs! I liked very much that upon our arrival basic things in kitchen were supplied like: salt, vinaigrette, olive oil, some herbs. It was very handy to have it rather to buy whole bottles of these products as usually needs to be done in other places. The kitchen was very well equipped so we could prepare our own meals without any problem. The BBQ area is a wonderful place to have a dinner because of it's stunning location and a view! The table is very big, there is a sink (very handy after big dinner!), a little pond with fishes, lots of beautiful plants and flowers. We easily managed to have a dinner there with 10 people as there is so much space. In the middle of a week our place was cleaned and sheets, towels were changed. All was done in a TOP way! We were impressed. The only one thing which I didn't like about our apartment was that it gets too hot! The air condition is absolutely necessary. It costs 5 Euros per day. We tried to make a draft to get some fresh air but we get plenty of mosquitoes and other insects despite window protections. Our child was bitten a lot although I used anti- insect spray. But then owner Jorgo gave us a plug anti-mosquitoes which worked very well. He is a very friendly, hospitable man. He kindly arranged for us excellent fresh fishes from his sister's shop and we got a bottle of Raki from him which he makes himself at home! We were just surprised with his wife which was quite problematic just when we arrived - while passing keys to the apartment. As I booked two separates places - one for us and one for friends I thought that I could choose where I want to sleep. She was not very keen to let me do it, insisting that it's not possible because one reservation I did via booking.com and other by email... which was not a reasonable answer to us. Anyway we got what we wanted finally and a couple was kind and helpful during our stay. Our friend lost car keys in the sea and had do drive do Heraklion. She kindly gave him his car! The surrounding is amazing, few beaches to choose, a banana plantation 5 min away! Watermelon, melon, cucumber farm nearby! In a town there are many very good and really not expensive restaurants. Also very good shops for example butcher where we were buying the best fresh goat-sheep yogurt we ever eaten! So I could really recommended Villa Amelia and Palaikastro for holiday! Really great, relaxing place. ps. Internet was working very well!
