Altea Apartments, Fira, Santorini- Great location, Comfortable stay and Friendly host
We, a family of 3, stayed at Altea Apartments, Fira, Santorini for 4 days in June 2025. Altea is located in a great location, very close to the Fira Central Bus Station, Bakery, Super markets and the Restaurants, within walkable distance.
The apartment as such is fairly spacious equipped with cooking facilities. A MW oven, if provided, could have been very useful. No washing machine facility which is OK for a Short stay. Wardrobe space could have been designed better with additional partitions.
They have a Reception with limited working hours, hence help can be sought, if needed. We had booked 2-bedroom and 1-bedroom accommodation for different continuous dates due to availability issues, at the same price for both. Upon our request, they arranged for luggage transfer professionally. Thanks to the host, George, we could also keep luggage for a few hours post checkout.
Overall, I recommend Altea Apartments for its Central location and comfortable stay.

Not good...never again.
Had been to Santorini twice before and had great experiences..reviews looked good Pros 1.close to Fira center and
2. cleaner very good even though she didn't speak much English
Cons 1. wasn't given the apartment I booked (with booking.com)..I booked a two bedroom appointment with sofa bed for three of us because I like a comfortable sofa due to back problems..and when my sons friend expressed an interest in coming too,I sent the apartments a message to see if we could add him and how much extra it would be..as it was supposed to have a sofa bed..quoted €50...very misleading as it didn't say PER NIGHT..but that aside having a room with a sofa bed meant he could sleep on there comfortably..,not what we got..(see photos)..we had a a two bedroom room with NO sofa bed..and as it was late at night and we were very tired (we had to wattsapp and find out how to get the key to get in) when we did no where to sleep for one of us...! (As it was my adult son and three of his friends I could hardly share a bed with one of them..!!) Had to sleep on a VERY hard and uncomfortable sofa that night..when I tried to speak to the cleaner the next morning (no English, a passing lady translated for me) was given a CAMP BED for the rest of the holiday...! as the others were large and tall lads I had to sleep on it all week,so my back suffered badly,and after contacting the owners to try and sort it out,they said I had to pay €250 more for the privilege.!
2. No mention of a building site next door which woke us at 7.30 every morning.
3. Quad bikes making a racket until all hours at night.
4. Have to communicate with owner via Wattsapp or phone.
I would definitely NOT return as it spoiled my only holiday I get every year.

Nice appartment. But a construction site right next door!
THE POSITIVES: A lovely, bright and spacious two bedroom appartment on an upper floor. We were just two and we loved the space in having a good sized bedroom each, plus a large central living area and balcony. The location was perfect, very close to the centre of Fira and even closer to the bus station from where the entire island can be accessed. A great bakery a stone throw away, from where we got pastries and freshly squeezed juice each morning and a large supermarket also very close.
Another positive is the spotless cleanliness, as the appartment was cleaned to a high standard each day.
THE NEGATIVES: A construction site literally next door, right outside the bedroom windows which we were told nothing about and which is not mentioned on any site where these appartments are advertised. Unacceptable, as perspective guests need to be made aware in advance that they will be woken each weekday morning at 7.30 AM by hammers and drilling. And that they cannot open the shutters to dress and let in the morning light as workers are right outside the window.
Another negative is the bathroom. Much too small for a large appartment that advertises for up to 5 people. There is no shower door, so the entire tiny bathroom gets flooded, making the floor slippery and uncomfortable until it dries out, which is not fast in April. And the bathroom door has no handle so cannot be shut properly.
The appartment is cold at nights in April as the air con units are inadequate to heat except in the smaller bedroom. Also, kitchen utensils are at bare minimum providing for only the most basic self catering. And communication is by Whatsapp only. No reception facilities when we were there.
Overall, recommendable, if you don't mind the inconvenience of the building site and poor bathroom. As this is counterbalanced by the space, great location and reasonable price.

We enjoyed staying this apartment. Very good location, near central, but quite at night. Very good service and communication. Big car park. I recommend to stay here especially for family with kids.

The Worst Experience
I would avoid this apartment at all cost. Unlike the reviews, my experience was utter chaos, teaching me not to rely solely on a small number of reviews when considering booking a newly listed accommodation. I feel compelled to share my accurate experience to prevent others from having a dreadful experience. The reservation team showed complete irresponsibility, providing unreasonable excuses and failing to provide solutions for numerous problems:
1) Terrible or no internet speed (0.93 Mbps, far below the expected standard of 100)
2) No response to messages before the arrival
3) Disruptive construction drilling noise that woke me up early in the morning and was ongoing for hours
4) Poor soundproofing that prevented me from sleeping at night
5) A squeaky bed and stains on the pillowcase
6) Shower head that did not work properly; the entire bathroom floor was wet because there was no shower curtain, so your feet got soaking wet every time you entered; no bathroom door handle and the hot water stopped unexpectedly
7) All the food I purchased was frozen the next day in the fridge, and the management team blamed the previous guests, when it should have been checked or communicated to the next guest prior to the check-in
This was undeniably one of the most disappointing experiences I've ever had. It not only failed to meet basic accommodation standards but also demonstrated a profound level of irresponsibility and disregard for service quality.
