Istoria, a Member of Design Hotels Hotel, a member of Design Hotels, is quietly located on the eastern half of the island, on Perivolos Beach. The newly opened property features unique architectural elements. The 12-suite retreats stripped-down contemporary aesthetic acts as a next-generation social hub for sophisticated travelers, far from the busy tourist spots. Each one of the 12 suites is equipped with a king-size bed or German twin beds, air-conditioning, smart TV, wireless Internet, laptop-sized safe box, mini bar and coffee/tea facilities. All suites have private terraces and many feature outdoor hot tubs, private pools or panoramic sea views. À-la-carte breakfast is served daily in Mr. E Restaurant, which is also open for lunch and dinner, serving delectable Mediterranean fare. Guests can spend their day sunbathing by the large main pool or at the black sand beach, while enjoying signature cocktails and favorite snacks, or indulge in a rejuvenating body treatment in the hotel’s Asian Spa. Staff at the hotel are available to provide information at the 24-hour front desk. Wonderful stay at the Istoria Cliff

We stayed at the Cliffs Istoria in Santorini for 2 nights. The room was spacious and cool. It was comfortable, always clean, and water was restocked daily or upon request. The view from the room is breathtaking and we experienced the most amazing sunsets. The personal hot tub was a definite bonus! Breakfast was delivered each morning to our outdoor eating area, but you could choose to eat breakfast at the restaurant area. The food was fresh and delicious. We also had the opportunity to enjoy a relaxing visit to the beach at the other Istoria location. We were greeted with smiles and great service when ordering a late lunch. Christina and her team are so attentive and kind. She was able to adjust our checkout to accommodate a later flight departure time back to Athens. We were grateful for the flexibility. We recommend booking a stay at the Cliffs Istoria and would be happy to visit again in the future.

A Stunning Boutique Escape on Perivolos Beach, Let Down by Small Details

Istoria is one of the most beautiful boutique properties in Santorini. Its location on Perivolos Beach offers a refreshing alternative to the crowded side of the island. Being a small hotel, is a wonderful place to relax and unwind.
The suites are spacious, and thoughtfully designed. The private hot tubs are a highlight and create a luxurious atmosphere. The hotel team is attentive and provide excellent service. It is clear that they anticipate guests' needs before they even have to ask. However, there are moments when the service feels a little too rehearsed.
During our stay in Suite 4, the light fixture at the entrance to the private yard was missing. Additionally, the safe was frustrating to use, as most of the buttons were unresponsive. These maintenance issues should be addressed promptly in a hotel of this standard.
One particular incident at the beach was disappointing. While we completely understand the policy that beach beds should not be left unattended for extended periods, we were having lunch at the hotel's own restaurant when staff removed our belongings from our sunbeds. Our hats and books were placed on the floor next to the beds, and one of the books was even rolled up inside the towels and placed in a laundry basket. This was unacceptable.
Mr E Restaurant has significant potential to be a fine dining restaurant with a reinvented and specific menu for diner. It is a shame that closes at 8 pm. Mr E could be turned to one of the gastronomic references of Santorini.
Overall, Istoria remains a wonderful hotel with a unique beachfront location, beautiful accommodations, and a dedicated team. Addressing a few operational details and elevating the dining experience could easily make it one of the finest luxury stays on the island.

Everything was excellent: the hotel is beautiful, the service impeccable, and the staff extremely kind and helpful. The only aspect that, in my opinion, could be improved is the dining experience, which could offer a little more variety and attention to detail. Overall, however, it was a very positive experience.

Beach side hotel is absolutely wonderful. Cliff side is still very new and working out some bugs.

We stayed 2 nights at Istoria and had a pretty mixed experiance.
Our first night was at the Cliffside property and, honestly, we were quite dissapointed. The area felt very touristy and the service just wasn’t at the same level we were expecting. It also felt like the property was still working out a few of the kinks since it had only been open a few months. Looking back, I wish we had skipped the Cliffside altogether.
For our second night we moved over to the Beachside property and it was a completly different experience. This is the one that truly deserves the Michelin Key. The atmosphere was calm, the property is beautifull, and the management team was excellent. Everyone was warm, attentive, and made us feel very welcome.
The second night really made up for the first, and we left with a much better impression of Istoria. If you’re deciding between the two, I would absolutely recommend staying on the Beachside.

The best bartender on the island

My wife and I came for a cocktail by the pool of Istoria, and ended up staying the afternoon drinking and conversing with Stelios, the great bartender of Istoria. Simply by talking he was able to know which drinks were made for us.
I want to come back to Istoria just to catch up with Stelios and drink until sunset.
He made our stay remarkable.
