Complete peace & tranquility- a world away from Santorini crowds

This was my second stay at Thirassia Paradise Suites in 2 years. What an absolute gem! The accommodation is in a fantastic location, right on the beach at Riva Port, next to the ferry port, and with incredible views of the Santorini caldera.
Thirassia is a wonderful island, in complete contrast to Santorini as it is very quiet & uncrowded, but it offers the same views, landscape & crystal clear sea waters, albeit in reverse.
The accommodation is lovely. A lot of thought has gone into the architectural layout & facilities. You get a large, well designed studio room, which accommodates a huge King Size (perhaps super King) bed, with a well equipped kitchenette, dining table, and roomy single/day bed. There is plenty of clothing/wardrobe storage. You also get an enclosed sun room in your porch entrance with jacuzzi, smaller dining table & couch.
Breakfast is served in your room (or by the pool) daily. We received a delicious fried egg, toast, bacon, yoghurt, homemade cherry jam, and home grown cherry tomatoes.
We were also generously provided with lots of large bottles of water.
The studios are situated beside a gorgeous seawater pool which has loads of loungers & umbrellas.
There’s lots of parking space for hire cars.
We were looked after by the friendly & attentive house keeper who cleans the studios & pool daily, as well as cooks & serves breakfast. There isn’t a reception of sorts - this is a quiet self/catering accommodation & you are given the space to make this your home from home, which we loved. But the housekeeper or owners are only a WhatsApp message away & will quickly attend to all needs, requests & questions.
We felt more independent this year, but last year help with transfers, island taxis & information about the island amenities were patiently answered & support provided continuously.
Thirassia is not a 24/7 party or busy island - there are only about 250-300 residents & hardly any tourists staying apart from the daytimes who visit Korfos on the boat cruises. So you do need to do a bit or forward planning on getting around the island but we had no trouble getting around using the free community bus that picks up passengers from the passenger ferry when it docks, or asking the local taxi driver Mr. Manolis to pick us up a couple of hours in advance. He is brilliant & will get you around the island whenever you need. Or you can walk to Manolas Village in 45 minutes (but be prepared for an uphill walk on the roads & this is best done when sun is not strong or too hot). But we could book restaurants on the day or just show up. There is no need to plan everything & you should just ‘ go with the flow’.
Another tip is to bring some supplies with you such as milk, bread, salad, dips etc, as there isn’t a mini market in Riva Port, (nearest in Potamas or Manolas village) but there is a wonderful local taverna called Agistri that will provide wonderful meals & drinks. You are also very close to Ammoudi Bay, more close than some villages on Santorini! So we took advantage & visited Ammoudi & Oia using the €1 ferry & then free community bus (it’s actually a VIP van that waits right by the ferry jetty), which drops you off at Oia bus terminal. In summer there is a 21:15 ferry back to Riva Port so we were able to have dinner in Ammoudi Bay & catch the sun set (you’ll have to walk down the steps or arrange your own return taxi from the bus station). So, if you want an antidote to the Santorini crowds, & an authentic taste of slower paced, traditional Greek island life & experience the warmest hospitality from locals, then Thirassia island & Thirassia Paradise Suites are for you. I wish more people experienced the quiet beauty of this place.
We found complete peace, rest, privacy & the warmest welcome at our ‘home from home’. We will certainly be returning.

Perfect!!

It’s a gem of a villa. It’s on Thirassia island but with everything you need. It’s away from the humdrum of the tourist traps but with the views of what you’re going for. For my family and I, this was perfect. The manager, Katherine was extremely helpful. She catered to our every need. She was kind, caring and professional. Our rooms were cleaned on a daily basis, water was provided daily, our sheets were changed. Our pool was cleaned daily. It’s been a fabulous stay.
The location for my family and I was perfect- it’s literally in one of the black sand beaches.
I’m certain, if I came back to Santorini, this is the location and place I’d be at. I couldn’t recommend better people to look after me and my family.

Perfect in every way

We stayed here for 2 nights, it was perfect. The rooms are spacious with everything you need including a washing machine in the bathroom.
Views over oia are spectacular as is the sunrise.
Be sure to visit Nicos in his taverna just down the road for a lovely welcome and stunning food.

Paradise of thirassia island

I loved the place so much and the breakfast is delicious. The beach is nice and private with a beautiful view to he Oia village. We spent a week in Thirassia Paradise Suite and will come again. Thank you.

Great stay

We had a great stay at Thirassia Paradise Suites. The breakfast is delicious and staff is very helpful. The beach is private just for their costumers and the view from pool is the gem. Highly Recommended.
