Great address
The Ensana Grand Margaret Island hotel is a true favorite, ideally located on Margaret Island in the heart of a beautiful park with a stunning rose garden nearby. For getting around, the location is perfect since bus 26 stops right next to the hotel and goes directly into the city. The best plan is to get the Budapest GO card with a 24-hour or 72-hour pass to enjoy unlimited access to buses, trams, and subways. The establishment itself is magnificent, supported by pleasant and very professional staff, and offers a top-notch thermal area with bathrobes and slippers provided for total comfort. The breakfast is simply incredible, with the very pleasant option to sit on the terrace or dine outside, while the rooms and bathrooms are particularly spacious and clean.

A trip back in time
When you arrive at the Ensana Grand, you get surprised twice.
First by the staff: extremely polite, warm, and with that rare old-fashioned elegance that almost feels lost nowadays. It feels like traveling back in time.
And so does the hotel itself. The interiors are, as they were, in their more glorious decades ago. I was almost expecting Gorbachev himself to walk through the lobby at any given moment.
As for the location… if your priority is to stay close to the main sights and enjoy contemporary design, I would probably choose another hotel - you’re actually on the island. But if you want peace and quiet in the middle of Budapest, and genuinely kind staff, then Ensana Grand can still be a good choice.

We'll be back at the Grand Hotel
A magnificent hotel with a slightly outdated decor but with all modern comforts... we feel immersed in the 50s...we loved...the staff is very caring....the location is ideal on the island in the middle of the danube, in the city without the noises

We looked at a lot of reviews when choosing this hotel and it was one of the better reviews on in Budapest. Unfortunately it didn’t match our expectations.
The rooms were very old, dusty and the bathrooms had not been deep cleaned for a long time. The bath needed a deep scrub so the overall cleanliness of the room was a disappointment.
The breakfast at this hotel was a nightmare. We only had breakfast there for one morning but decided it wasn’t worth visiting again. It’s disappointing when breakfast is included to be forced to head out and find other breakfast places. The coffee was very poor from the machines and the food just didn’t feel fresh and exciting like we would have expected at a hotel like this. Lukewarm scrambled eggs and store bought bread doesn’t do justice. The personal was very cold and doesn’t seem happy at this hotel.
We will not be going back to this hotel and would like to share our experience with others incase they're curious in booking this hotel.

Absolutely awful experience bringing whole trip down
I am staying at the Grand hotel ensana. I came 4 days ago. Chose this hotel based on the reviews it got. I asked my daughter to come and experience Budapest. She arrived yesterday evening. Today when we went for breakfast we stopped at a table that was empty, needed cleaning. I held my plate amd my daughter who was feeling a little ill put her plate down as it was heavy to carry. She asked the waiter to clean the table as he had bo5 brought a cloth with him just the cutlery. The waiter proceeded with shouting loudly so the guests sitting at the other tables started staring in our direction. This was both unwanted unexpected humiliating for us both. We noticed his interaction with others, which was courteous and relaxed. Unfortunately we were the only brown guests at that time in the area and possibly in the breakfast area. I was shocked at this behaviour and went to report it to the manager who said he apologised for it. But shrugged his shoulders mentioning the old guy. No action was taken at this stage. I felt let down and truly embarrassed to have to go back to the table whilst having the rude waiter around. Not only that but after other guests were leaving they stopped to talk to him and kept looking in my direction. I can't understand hungarian but this should not of had occurred. I have stayed at a number of hotels in different countries but never experienced such poor service. I am not a demanding person I have let a lot of things slide o this trip but this was truly unjustified and has made this trip turn sour. On top of this we approached the front desk who said a guest relationship manager will come and speak to us at 12. It is now 12.22 and no answer. We have rang reception to ask what the delay was they said he had arrived and would be coming up, but still not arrived. So our morning has been absolutely ruined waiting.
