It’s a very nice hotel and breakfast is amazing in the morning with the view of the lake. We got there very late still the staff was able to accommodate us and help us with check in. Rooms are comfortable. Tv is the size of computer monitor but it didn’t bother us as we were just staying for the night. Overall would comeback and stay here again

AVOID Thus Hotel

This hotel is old and very beat up looking. Rooms not clean. Restaurants are ridiculously priced and food quality is low. Unfriendly staff made the experience even worse. I’d say AVOID this hotel. Lots of other quality options in the area.

East Iceland on a lake

The location was lovely, adjacent to a lake. The rooms are serviceable, but shower curtains need to go, and please provide decent hairdryers that work longer than a minute. The walls are quite thin, you can hear your neighbours very well. They claim to have the best buffet breakfast in all of Iceland. Well, no. Scrambled eggs taste funky, the hash browns are stale, and there were often empty offerings, not replenished in a timely manner. The staff are friendly and definitely lovely. No elevators, so be prepared to carry your luggage upstairs. On our last morning they had 4 tour buses staying, breakfast was bedlam

Rooms were clean and spacious, breakfast was very good although some options were no longer available more than half an hour before the end of the breakfast service

Beautiful location

We made a stop here while driving along the Ring Road; the Hotel Hallormsstadur is off routes 95 and 931, and about 25 minutes south of Egilsstadir. The view of the lake from our room was gorgeous; calm and peaceful location; comfortable room; clean bathroom. The breakfast buffet was excellent - eggs, oatmeal, mini pancakes, fruit, muesli and cereal, coffee, juice. Kind staff members.
