Warm authenticity and comfort at a level that is rarely found anywhere
A huge thank you to the family for their time and conversation. It added so much depth to the stay and made it feel personal in a way that’s quite rare.
A special mention for Shabbir, whose sundowner trip to the fort was an absolute highlight and a must-do for couples. His knowledge of the area and its history really brought everything to life.
The room was exactly what you hope for in a heritage stay, authentic, thoughtfully put together, and incredibly comfortable. The bed in particular was one of the best we’ve slept in. The pool and pool beds were also a very high standard, and having it all to ourselves made it even more special.
Shahpura itself feels vibrant and full of character. It’s the kind of place you wish you had more time to explore, one night definitely wasn’t enough.
What really stays with you though is the ethos of Shahpura Bagh. There’s a genuine care for the place, the people, and the experience they create for guests. It’s understated, warm, and quietly exceptional.
We would absolutely return.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Shahpura Bagh : Friendship, Memory & Hospitality's Truest Home
There are hotels you remember, there are destinations you revisit, and then there are places that become part of your life story. Shahpura Bagh is one such rare sanctuary for me.
Every path and lakeside trail evokes memories of Shatrujeet Singh - Jai's beloved elder brother, who left us far too soon, creating a void that can never truly be filled. An exceptional photographer, a gifted naturalist, an encyclopaedia of birds and wildlife, and above all, a gentle, generous soul. Shatrujeet had an extraordinary ability to make people feel seen and valued. Conversations with him flowed as effortlessly as the breeze across the lake and his quiet passion for nature still seems to linger in every tree, every birdcall and every sunrise & sunset, over the water.
It is profoundly moving to see his legacy carried forward with such dignity by Maya Singh and Trisha Singh, whose warmth and quiet elegance enrich the spirit of Shahpura Bagh. Along with Jai and Mandvi, they preserve not just a magnificent heritage property but a philosophy of hospitality rooted in kindness, authenticity and genuine human connection.
My relationship with this extraordinary estate is inseparable from a lifelong friendship with Jai Singh - a childhood companion whose warmth, humour and generosity have remained unchanged over the decades. Walking into Shahpura Bagh never feels like checking into a heritage property; it feels like coming home to family.
Together with Mandvi Singh, Jai has created an oasis that effortlessly combines old-world grace with deeply personal hospitality. Nothing is too much trouble, and no detail is too insignificant. The remarkable staff, carefully mentored and inspired by the family, anticipate needs before they are voiced, making every guest feel not merely welcomed but genuinely cherished.
The estate itself is magical. Expansive gardens, ancient trees, elegant suites, and a vast lake teeming with resident and migratory water birds create an atmosphere of serenity that is increasingly rare to find. The rooms are beautifully appointed, with enormous, cloud-like beds, thoughtfully stocked larders and minibars, and every modern comfort seamlessly woven into the timeless character of the property.
And then there was the morning chai. To many it may simply be tea, but to me it was pure nostalgia in a cup—a perfectly brewed, robust, country-style chai with the strength and flavour that instantly transports one to simpler, happier times. It became a daily ritual I looked forward to with almost childlike anticipation.
The culinary experience deserves a standing ovation. The resident chef, Gopey, possesses that rare ability to understand individual preferences and transform them into memorable meals. Bespoke breakfasts, vibrant salads, regional delicacies and inventive dishes arrived with effortless finesse, each one prepared with affection rather than routine.
The experiences curated here elevate a stay into a collection of lifelong memories: leisurely evening drives across the countryside with fresh sandwiches, coffee and tea thoughtfully packed along; moonlit wildlife excursions; lakeside barbecues beneath endless skies; unforgettable bonfire dinners at the family fort; and tranquil birdwatching sessions where time itself seems to slow down. Comfortable excursion vehicles and attentive staff ensure every outing is relaxed, immersive and deeply enjoyable.
Yet, for me, Shahpura Bagh carries an even deeper emotional resonance.
In an era when luxury is often measured by extravagance, Shahpura Bagh reminds us that the greatest luxury is being looked after with sincerity, sharing conversations over endless cups of chai, watching flamingos rise from the lake at dawn, and feeling, even for a few days, that you belong.
I've stayed in many beautiful places around the world, but very few have left such an enduring imprint on my heart.
Shahpura Bagh is not merely a destination—it is friendship made tangible, memory given a home, and hospitality elevated to an art form.
An unforgettable experience, and one I shall return to again and again. ☕✨

Super chilled out few days
Staff were all so friendly and welcoming, making us feel like we were at home.
We took the trip to the village, the market and the farm. Which gave a taste of authentic (non touristy) India.
We felt very chilled out after leaving.
