Ok Hotel in Darjeeling

Ok Hotel in Darjeeling.I think this hotel is used by every tour operator for Darjeeling.
I would say neither good nor bad but typically the type of hotel when you come in a package.Rooms are decent but not great though and bathroom very small.
Plus point Service is good Specially Suresh and Aleem.
Please note that this is not 3* category hotel as stated by every travel agent but a decent budget hotel.

Very Bad

The service at the Himalayan Retreat Hotel, Darjeeling, is substandard, especially with online bookings. Customers are left stranded after paying the full amount. Despite charging a higher fee, they offer customers an Alabaster room upon booking, which is not correct. Therefore, I want to warn you all to think carefully before booking. I stayed at this hotel from June 11, 2026, to June 15, 2026.

Worst , pathetic,

Pathetic full slum area
Pathetic food in breakfast can not give simple poori sabji also in pathetic taste can not eat even one byte.
They put lot of water in amul milk and give
Pathetic tea
Room looks like slum room for which they charge me 12 to 15 k per night
Highly rude arrogant manager and staff .
They keep 10 to 30 room in lounge near our room.entire night we were not able to sleep .
After talking 3 times with manager to change are room or fix problems he shout can not do anything .
This place is not for the value we pay

Below average stay

Hotel is not as big as shown in photographs.....it was below average stay...food is horrible...dont know what oil they have used....washrooms were small and rooms were not comfortable....location is very steep down and does not offer any view....although staff was good....everything else is below avg at this price point...not recommended!!

Horrible experience, not recommended at all

It’s not a 3-star hotel but rather a lodging service. Location is way too congested to travel to other parts of city. The Manager Bikash is not a man of his words. While checking in he confirmed that he would refund for one night out of 2 as the room he provided to us was not good but later refused to do so. We checked out of the hotel within few hrs of checking in due to this fake promise and pathetic makeshift rooms. They showed us 2 rooms one which was in the middle of construction debris on the terrace on 4th floor with no lift. Other room was behind the dining area in basement where I guess their janitor / housekeeping staff resides in non peak season. Worst part was the cheating nature of the front staff and manager. Not recommended at all!
