nice hotel for chamunda devi temple
nice rooms, near to chamunda devi temple, near to river, big rooms, good in ice, big terrce, good food. parking also avl, top level rooms would be better with mountain view. parking avl. take bigger size rooms.

Great stay. Good location.
Had a great stay. Great hotel at this price. Food was very tasty. Rooms are good. Location is excellent, riverside resort and very near to temple. Rooms offer great view of the river. One negative point was there were big spiders in room but staff took care of that. Overall very good experience.

Hotel Vatika -Chamunda Devi – Dharamshala 176052
I checked into room 110 of this hotel along with my wife on 13 Aug 2022 and stayed there for two nights. As I drove into the compound of the hotel in my sedan the underside of the body of the car made loud thumping and scratching noise as it scraped on the concrete hump at the main gate on which one must drive to enter the compound. On every entry and exit this problem of damage to undercarriage was there. In a SUV this problem may not be there. Upon entering the first floor room facing the Baner river bank I was struck with damp and stale odour of the room typical of lack of ventilation and airing of the room for long time. Bed linen also smelled of rank odour of cloth which has been washed in water without any detergent. The sole blanket gave the stale stench of something which has not been washed for a year. Mercifully two freshly washed bed sheets were provided for the bed upon request. The bathroom towels also gave the smell of cloth which has been washed with little or no detergent and has been folded before it was fully dry. The bathroom tiles have not been cleaned. The whole bathroom had stench. Toilet seat ring has turned to yellowish from white after prolonged use over the years. The only bucket and mug provided were greasy. There were algae growing on the sides of wash basin. There was no holder for toilet roll. Nor the toilet roll was supplied. The exhaust fan of the toilet was on last legs of its life and did very little to expel the air. The room has substantial part of the floor covered with wood battens which have shrunk and warped over the years. Because of which the crevices created cannot be cleaned except by scrapping and vacuum cleaning. Something which does not seem have been done for years now resulting in calcification of dirt and waste there lending peculiar unpleasant smell in the room which pervades all over. The view from the balcony of the room is excellent. You get a wide sweep of panorama of the towering mountains and Chamunda Devi Temple Complex. The gorge carved deep by the waters of the river over thousands of years is a sight to hold. The sharp slope of river and its water hurtling down at fast speed, crashing and striking against the boulders and large stones, creates high decibel sound. The tall banks of river on both sides amplify the sound as a loudspeaker. The result is that one cannot sleep in the room with window open for fresh air. The split air conditioner did good job of sucking out the stale air and moisture from the room. The electric supply to the air conditioners is not connected to or controlled from the main point inside the room which is activated by inserting the door card into the receptacle as is the usual practice in hotels. Instead it is controlled by the Reception staff on the ground floor. At six PM they switch off the electric supply to the air conditioner. There was no electric supply to AC for the night. Otherwise also the supply to air conditioning units is stopped shortly after every time it starts raining. I had to ring the reception again and again to switch on the power supply. The usual excuse given is tripping of power supply. Which is unbelievable. Without a working air-conditioning it is almost impossible to stay in the room with high humidity and high temperature. It is the most expensive hotel in two-kilometer radius of Chamunda Devi temple. The hot water heating is common to all rooms. On the first night of stay there was no hot water for bathing or cleaning. When contacted the Reception told me to leave the tap running and after a while the hot water will start coming. Even after twenty minutes the water ran cold. I contacted the reception again. The same reply was given. On that night we were probably the only guests. Next day the hot water was available for about two hours only. After that the same story was there. I will remember this hotel for unhealthy and unpleasant stay even after spending good money on its high rent.

The warmth of personal touch will go miles !
First of all the location, its absolutely wonderful. You will get great views from your balcony. Their service is impeccable, you just have to ask and you will get it in no-time. The owner himself will leave no stone unturned to make your stay a memorable one. Absolutely loved it.

Hotel Vatika is Excellent, I was stayed in 3 Nights, Hotel was absolutely Very good, very charming view from the Room, as well as Food was very delicious, staff was very kind and deliver very fast service which is Expect every guest, and hotel's owner is like friend.
