Number 1 guest house in Palolem by far: brilliant
I would absolutely agree that this is the number 1 guest house in the area. Unfortunately the location on the map is wrong: Hilias Retreat is located about 50 metres down the road towards the beach. It is directly opposite the Cops Cabana beach shack so about 2 minutes from the sea.
I had an upstairs balcony room which was clean and comfortable with a very comfy bead. Staff / owners are so helpful and friendly. I planned a 4 day trip but ended up staying 8. Scooter hire available in house. Minor drawback is that credit cards are not accepted but easy to pay in advance on hotel.com. Fridge in room is very handy and stocked regularly with water and soft drinks. Best place I've stayed in India by a country mile. Palolem Beach is just fabulous too, possibly the best beach I've ever been too and I'm well travelled. Where else could you get a light lunch and a beer for £3! Guest house doesn't serve food but that really isn't an issue with so many great restaurants and beach shacks on the door step. Don't look anywhere else.

Probably the best place to stay in Palolem. Just a few metres from the beach so no noise at night.
Private bathroom so self contained. Indian guests might miss a TV but I didn't as there is only so much cricket that you can watch.

Fantastic location just yards from Palolem Beach; literally about a minutes walk through the Copa Cabana beach hut and you are there. Extremely clean and comfortable to just about everywhere else I have stayed in India. Owners are always on hand to help and advise. Comfy bed, great air con. I planned to stay 4 days but just kept extending my stay. Palolem Beach has got to be one of the worlds best, beautiful views, loads of bars and restaurants and calm, warm sea. Loved it here.

Hilia's Reatreat
It's a great place to live. The best in its segment. Perfect cleanliness in the room, regular replacement of towels and linen, always in the room packing drinking water. There's air conditioning and ceiling fan, fridge. Incredibly benevolent hosts, always in touch and dealing with all issues that arise. Closed area, no strangers, nice to relax on the veranda in the evenings. The beach is 5 minutes away, with shops and cafes/restaurants nearby. Recommend 100%
