verry good hotel nice wood work cottage loks like in jungle good food but lunch not av no intercom to call to reception so any food or servcie is not av on demand brekfast is good

A Serene Stay at Kalpavanam Heritage Resort
Kalpavanam Heritage Resort is truly a blissful place to stay, built in the traditional Kerala-style wooden architecture. Located very close to Kumily town, most restaurants, shops, and attractions are within a 5-minute reach, making it extremely convenient.
The property is nestled amidst large jackfruit trees, offering a calm and peaceful atmosphere. The rooms are thoughtfully spaced, ensuring privacy with no disturbances from neighboring guests. They are quite spacious, equipped with Wi-Fi connectivity, and the washrooms are exceptionally clean and hygienic.
We received a warm welcome upon arrival. The manager personally guided us to our room and took the time to explain the facilities and various activities that can be arranged, such as elephant rides, jeep safaris, traditional Kathakali dance performances, and more. Please note that these activities come at an additional cost.
Breakfast is complimentary but limited in variety. There’s no lunch service at the resort. For dinner, a limited menu is available and must be ordered before 6:00 PM so the chef can prepare it fresh. One of the highlights is that they use only farm-fresh vegetables—no preserved food, a tradition commonly followed across Kerala. You can either dine in the hall or opt for in-room dining.
Rooms come with 24/7 hot water and essential toiletries, ensuring a comfortable stay throughout.
Elephant Camp Experience – A Must-Try Near the Resort
Right beside Kalpavanam Heritage Resort is a well-maintained elephant camp housing five majestic elephants. This is a popular attraction and a great activity to try during your stay. The standard charge is ₹600 per person, but if you mention that you're staying at Kalpavanam Heritage Resort, you get a discounted rate of ₹500 per person. Children below 5 years can enjoy the ride for free.
Once you pay, you’ll receive a receipt with a token number. The elephant rides are organized based on this number system, so you’ll be called when your turn arrives. On weekends or holidays, there might be a longer waiting time, but the process is smooth and well-managed. The name of the elephant we ride on is “Heera”.
The ride lasts for about 20 minutes and takes you on a scenic walk through the property, allowing you to enjoy the serene surroundings. The caretakers are friendly and usually offer to take photos or videos using your phone, which is a thoughtful touch.
After the ride, you're given the option to feed the elephants. A tray of food (fruits and pumpkins) costs ₹100, and you can hand-feed the elephants while taking memorable photos.
In total, you can expect to spend around 45 minutes to an hour, including waiting time. Since the camp is located right next to the resort, it’s easy to access and fits perfectly into a relaxing day without needing additional travel.

Great forest hotel
This hotel is a great experience to stay in the middle of the forest, there are monkeys in the trees outside your balcony and other animals and birds make fantastic noises.
Unfortunately the facilities are not up to standard and it is at best a 3* and the food in the restaurant is not great, but if you want the experience it’s good

Great Experience
Really enjoyed the ambience & greenery of the resort . Loved the vintage feel of the Heritage Cottage though it didnt have storage space for our luggage. We had also taken the adjacent Green Room for accommodating our group of 7. This gave us the private area at our disposal.
Service was good .. food was simple, tasty & excellent and we preferred it like that. The kitchen staff, who were friendly and cordial, need to be lauded for that. The premises is adjacent to and connected with the area that the elephants reside in and we enjoyed the visual treat of the elephants being bathed, fed and handled every morning.
The owners of the property, Mr and Mrs Thomas reside within the premises and are amenable and friendly.
Overall a satisfying experience.
