Disappointing and Unhygienic – Not Worth Even for Day Use
The first room I was given was in terrible condition – the bedsheet was dirty, and we had to request staff to change it. Instead of changing the linen, they shifted us to another room on the third floor.
Unfortunately, the second room was even worse:
The bedsheet was nearly torn, and the pillow covers smelled awful, like they hadn’t been washed in weeks.
The floor was dirty, and the toilet sprinkler was filthy, with visible stains.
The cup provided for drinking water was stained from inside.
Even the tea and coffee sachets were placed in dusty, grimy containers.
This was a basic hygiene failure. I’ve never seen anything like it.
At checkout, I informed the receptionist about the poor condition of the rooms — not to complain for myself, but so future guests wouldn’t have to face the same situation. What shocked me was her response: she blamed previous guests for the condition of the room and claimed that some customers use the tea/coffee containers as ashtrays. Even if that were true, the hotel should properly clean the room before giving it to the next guest. Instead, she just kept giving excuses and took no responsibility.
This place is completely unhygienic, mismanaged, and unprofessional. I had to leave without using the room properly because it was just not usable.
Not recommended at all, even for a short stay or day-use. I hope the hotel takes this feedback seriously and improves its cleanliness and customer service.
and Unhygienic – Not Worth Even for Day Use
I booked this hotel for day use only through MakeMyTrip, paying ₹1213. I arrived early in the morning and had a visa appointment at 9 AM, followed by travel later that same day. I just needed a clean place to freshen up and rest briefly, but the experience was terrible from the start.

Some of the concerns issues we faced:
- after-hours check-in process is a problem as the hotel gates close and lights are turned off after hours. For guests arriving late night/very early (e.g., international travelers), this is a problem. It is a good idea to have the hotel phone number handy; also knock loudly on the metal gates.
- cleanliness: this is an aspect that the hotel management needs to supervise closely. The room we were given had dirt on the floor, nothing that a good sweep mop could not get. But it took two days of room cleaning to get all the dirt out. Sheets had stains and also showing signs of age. The walls seemed to have a newer coat of paint, but the paint job was very sloppy with paint splattered everywhere on the floor and on the desk and night stands.
- workspace: very little surface area in the room to keep things. The desk is sufficient to fit just one laptop and mouse. This means that other items like the electric kettle, tea/coffee/sugar, cups, etc. need to be moved elsewhere. Only problem is that there is no "elsewhere" except to put these stuff on the bed. The nightstands are tiny too, about 1' X 8" surface.
- billing: check the bill closely, esp. for restaurant charges.
- the hotel shows signs of age and is need of general maintenance.

Stay away from Hotel Consulate even if desperate!
The elevator stinks. Was served stale food at the restaurant. The coffee vending machine does not work
Nobody is available at 7:30 in the morning, not even to open the gate. Customers wait outside to enter the hotel. The faucets, toilet seat covers are either broken or non-functional. The staff seems to be paralysed into inaction. The owner, Mr Kundu, seems to visit the property on rare occasions.
We reduced our stay from five days to two days.
