Comfortable stay

CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE, BUT NO KITCHEN
I stayed at Hotel Pinaka Inn for one night recently, as my usual accommodation in Lucknow was not available and I had to find an alternative place at very short notice. Under the circumstances, this property appeared to be a good, though somewhat expensive, option.
Pinaka Inn (named after the bow of Lord Shiva) lies deep in Gomti Nagar. The building is a triple-storey townhouse with about 20 guest rooms. The main entrance is through a door opening directly onto the lane in front of it. There is no garden or parking space.
The reception area turned out to be quite small. While the name of the property includes both “hotel” and “inn”, it was described as a “homestay” in a board displayed in the reception area. In fact, the owners stay on the premises, but the personal touch is lacking.
The room was clean and well lighted. There was a ceiling fan in addition to the centralized air conditioning. The wi-fi facility was fully satisfactory. An electric kettle had been provided with supplies for preparing tea/coffee. However, there was no refrigerator in the room. I was surprised to find an ashtray on the shelf, as it was supposed to be a non-smoking room. However, there was no smell of cigarette smoke.
The only drawback to the room, apart from its small size, was the lack of natural light. There was only one window sealed with opaque glass. There was no question of opening it, as it overlooked a ventilation shaft. Another thing I discovered later was that the walls were quite thin, and some sounds from the adjacent rooms were audible at night, which might have been problematic for light sleepers.
The attached bathroom was surprisingly large, with good lighting and a faint smell of insecticide. Apart from the shower stall, they had provided a plastic stool, a bucket and a mug. There were no toiletries at the time of checking in, but some basic supplies were provided later.
A major shortcoming of this property is that they do not have a functional kitchen. However, they had displayed a QR code for ordering food in the room, which is presumably connected to a kitchen outside the property. I did not use this facility and so I cannot comment on it.
As for breakfast (which is included in the room tariff), they offer limited choices and deliver the selected items to each room. I was given a choice between aloo paratha and puri subzi, and I opted for the former. The quality was good but not great. Despite my advance request, delivery was slightly delayed, but I was able to leave in time to catch my train!
I did not have much interaction with the staff, but they seemed polite and helpful. Overall, I had a comfortable stay. While the room itself was very good, the tariff seemed rather high for the limited facilities being offered.
