Worst experience

Booked 2 nights at Hotel Grand Sabarees. Spoke to the GM(Wahith) directly and negotiated the rate down from ₹4200 to ₹3800 per night, with breakfast included as part of the deal. Instead, they gave breakfast for only one of the two days and charged the same negotiated rate for both — quietly changing the terms after the deal was made.
When I raised this at the front desk, the staff refused to engage and wouldn’t call the manager, just saying he was “busy.” Asking to speak to a manager over a billing dispute is a basic request, not an unreasonable one.
Overall experience: poor service, and a negotiated deal that wasn’t honored. Would not recommend staying here.

Comfortable stay

Around seven members of my family visited Madurai during May 2026, booked two rooms in hotel The Grand Sabarees for 1 day. This hotel was near to Meenakshi temple. Restaurants is walkable. There is a door between two rooms which we can open to merge two rooms. The hotel had car parking. Overall stay was good

Best hotel & location

When I searched for good hotels in madurai, Grand Sabarees came up in all searches. The photos & reviews were also good, so I booked two rooms for our family. We were very impressed with the amenities because everything was in working condition. Room size was good. AC worked fine. Hot water came instantly in the shower. Cleanliness in the room & in the hotel. Service was top notch.
We booked room only (no food), because I came to know their restaurant chain, Sree Sabarees is located closeby. The Meenakshi Amman Temple is 750 meters from the hotel, so 15-min walk.

Excellent Location & Breakfast, But Price and Space Are Disappointing

The hotel has a fantastic location—just a 3–4 minute walk from Madurai Railway Junction and within walking distance of major temples. There are plenty of restaurants and food options nearby, which makes it very convenient for travelers. The complimentary breakfast was excellent, offering a wide variety of south Indian dishes that were excellent ( Pongal, Dosai, Idly, Vadai, Puri, Coffe, tea, Fruits, Cornflakes, Sweet etc. All were provided). Rooms were clean, and the staff was friendly and helpful throughout our stay.
The room was clean and well-maintained, but the size was a major concern. For a family suite with an extra mattress, the space felt very cramped—there was barely any room to walk around once the mattress was added. The bathroom was also quite small, which made it less comfortable for a family stay. Overall, while the cleanliness was good, the room size did not match the premium price we paid.
Another inconvenience was the single small lift that could only accommodate 3–4 people at a time—carrying luggage meant waiting longer.
Overall, while the location, cleanliness, and breakfast were great, the price does not justify the room size and amenities. If you’re looking for convenience and good food options, this hotel works well, but be prepared for limited space and a higher price point. This is the only reason for 3 stars. Else wud have given 5
