Peaceful Stay
We had a peaceful stay in Xanadu, beach is just Walkable distance from the property, food was awesome and the rooms were neat and clean,they had arranged the pick up for us from the railway station.Overall good experience

Worst Experience Ever
We spent 2 nights at this place and it was horrible. We were a group of 10 people, including 2 senior citizens. Hot water was not available and even after complaining repeatedly, the host George, didn't do anything of value. The bathrooms were dirty and the wardrobes seemed like they hadn't been dusted in a year. The TV was not working in 3 out of the 4 rooms and the hosts did nothing, other than giving stupid excuses. The beach is at least half a kilometer away from the villa. Moreover, the worst highlight was the fact that they charged us a food bill which was thrice the amount of what it should've actually been (considering food rates of that area). And George's daughter threatened to lock up the gates and not allow us to go until we pay the full amount. I do not recommend this place to anyone.

Avoid avoid avoid
Staying 2 nights at Xanadu Marari with the host George and his family was one of my worst vacation experience. The rooms are very small with hardly any space to move around, the bathrooms are not like what is shown in the website, it is very small. There are big mosquitoes and a bad stench from the drainage. Parking is not available (as mentioned in the site) and beach is not "a stone's throw away". And worst of all is the food charges. On the last day, just before checkout, they drop a bomb and give you the food bill which is exorbitantly charged. George's daughter who runs the show there lied to us that there is no hot water in 1 of the rooms due to an empty tank, but the truth was that there is no pipeline for hot water in that room. She is extremely rude, uncooperative and an unpleasant host. She threatened us saying that she will not allow us to leave and will stop the vehicle unless we give her the price she quoted for food which was 3 times more than the food rates in that area. I would never ever recommend this place to anyone.

Relaxing stay and the most lovely hosts.
We spent 7 nights at Xanadu in February 2018 and had the most amazing stay. Breakfast was included in our deal but we also ate all our evening meals except one at this homestay and we were not disappointed. The food was freshly cooked and the owners went out of their way to get everything we wanted. They arranged transport and tuk tuks for us and suggested places we may like to visit. The rooms were clean and had air conditioning and fans and an ensuite wet room. The only criticism is that there are no wardrobes but we were offered coat stands to hang our clothes on. The property is a 5 minute walk to a sandy beach. There is a strong undertow in the sea but once you get past this it is a pleasant warm sea.

Perfect Beach Break
We are currently travelling India and stayed at Xanadu to take a few days out to relax and be by the beach. The hospitality was amazing - we were greeted with a delicious homemade lime juice, and shown straight to our room. The room was as shown in the photos: lovely and clean and plenty big enough for the two of us. The breakfast was included in the price of the stay and was huge and delicious! We also ate dinner here on our second night, and wished we had done on the first night too. It was some of the best Keralan food we have had on our trip - with loads of different dishes and at a very reasonable price. The family were wonderful and helped us to arrange our Tuk Tuk when we left. Additionally, the beach is an easy 5-10 minute walk away and is beautiful - with a few small places to stop for lunch and the chance to rent beach chairs and umbrellas.
