An unlikely but rewarding less expensive choice in a convenient location.
Upon approaching the building for the first time we were expecting to find we had made a dreadful mistake.
Once inside, however, the opposite impression was soon established.
Check-in was efficiently & quickly completed. We were then shown to a very clean room with a very comfortable bed. After travelling we find that a good night's sleep is important.
The hotel also felt very safe.
Staff, although a little short on English language skills, proved to be efficient & very helpful at any time of day or night, and produced lovely hot coffee or chai quickly.
Obviously there are many very nice hotels in Mumbai, and many in lovely areas - but you'll pay a handsome price. This hotel offers the essentials at a more affordable rate. The area does have it's charm.
There is plenty of street food available, including an endless supply of fresh fruit, in the surrounding area. Sadly this is not an area offering western food.
It does, however, have it's merits.
A little over 5 mins walk gets you to Masjid Station on the Central Line of Mumbai's Suburban rail system. From here it's just 1 stop South to Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) where wider choices are freely available.
Alternatively, from the same station, you can head NW to Dadar. Here you can change to the Western Line and again head S as far as Churchgate.
And all for just a few rupees.
(Don't miss the exceptional New Kulfi Centre at the N end of Marine Drive, opposite Chowpatty Beach).
This might look like a long way round but trains are frequent and fast. It takes significantly less time than a taxi across the congested city and the you avoid breathing exhaust fumes.

Most thied grade hotel...do not book...most unhealthy environment...the staff were drinking at the reception..
