Awesome experience
Just about 40 mins drive from Kolkata, this place is a perfect quick escape from the city chaos. The hospitality here truly stands out — the staff are warm, welcoming, and make you feel right at home from the moment you arrive.
The food is absolutely delicious, with authentic flavors that give you a true taste of Bengal. Every meal feels homely yet special.
What I loved the most is the aesthetic home-style décor — beautifully done with a rustic charm that creates such a peaceful and cozy vibe. Every corner feels thoughtfully designed and perfect for relaxing.
If you’re looking for a serene getaway close to Kolkata, Gram Bangla Retreat is definitely worth a visit! ✨

Very Bad Experience, Not Recommended
First of all, transport issue is a big problem. For just 5.2 km, they arranged a private auto and charged ₹600, creating unnecessary pressure like “decide now or the vehicle will leave.” This felt completely manipulated and unfair.
During rain, the situation got worse:
- Water was leaking from the roof
- Water was literally falling on the bed, making it very uncomfortable to stay
Common area was also bad:
- Guests were openly drinking beer and whisky
- Loud shouting, music, and dancing by a group of 20–30 people
- Felt unsafe and uncomfortable, especially with my girlfriend
- Because of this, we stayed inside the room the whole time
Restaurant experience was also bad:
- Same loud drunk crowd above the restaurant
- Not a place where you can comfortably take your partner
- Staff response was poor, had to repeat things multiple times
Electricity issue:
- From evening (around 7 PM), power cuts happened 5–6 times
- Each time for 5–10 minutes, complete darkness
Billing issue:
- Total should be ₹1189 (with GST)
- But they charged ₹1323
- Gave a wrong reason for the extra charge
- Later accepted it was a “mistake” but did not refund money
- Instead said “we will give a discount next time” – which makes no sense
Cab availability:
- Took 2 hours to book a cab
- Same issue while arriving as well
- Very poor connectivity, and they take advantage of it
Only positive:
- One young staff member who brought food was polite and helpful
Final verdict:
- Poor management
- Unfair pricing tactics
- Uncomfortable and unsafe environment
- Not worth the money
Would not recommend anyone to visit, especially with family or partner.
