Last minute cancellation, poor treatment, arrogant policies
We were on our honeymoon and already traveling in remote Uttarakhand when they decided to just drop a whatsapp message & Email about cancellation. Didn't even have the courtesy to call and inform. Had I been in a low network area, I wouldn't even have known till the last day. The way they treated us was just appalling.
We spent a whole day searching for a place to stay - ruining all our plans. We were lucky to find last room in a suitable place, in the middle of the busy summer Holiday season.
The reason for cancellation was the most interesting:
Some other guests who were friends of the owner were given our room because they had to accommodate their Dog!
While the owner was kind enough to speak to us on phone, the stories given by her and the booking manager were completely different and misleading.
We were offered another room far from the main property which the "special guests" didn't like.
We refused to take it- as we didn't want to be in a hostile environment, away from civilization for 2 days. This is a remote and secluded property and the last thing I need on my mind is being around people who treat you as 2nd class citizens over their "special guests". If something unpleasant happened, I wouldn't even be able to leave - as you are dependent on their staff to get out of the place.
Unfortunately This didn't end the ordeal - It took constant followups and 14 days for the booking amount to be refunded. To me, this clearly shows their attitude and lack of respect towards guests.
It feels as if the whole thing is very arrogantly managed and the attitude is take it as we please or leave it.
There is no fathomable reason why you couldn't call and discuss the cancellation, or refund a booking amount on time if you have wronged the customer. Telling me this is how the process works and it takes time just leaves a really really bad taste.
At the price point they are charging, the least you would expect is prompt communication and courtesy, there is no justification for this behavior, no matter how good the property is.
I had great expectations from this property and had bookmarked it since years, hoping to visit here for a special occasion. Unfortunately this has become a nightmare experience that will leave a very bitter memory always.
I have traveled extensively and almost exclusively stay in boutique properties and homestays, but have faced this kind of discrimination and poor treatment for the first time.

The perfect quiet that city folks need
As I write this review, I’m on day 2 of our 3 night 4 days visit to this beautiful stay nestled atop a hill. You can’t drive here. One can either trek for about an hour or so or ride on a horseback, which is what I had done (my husband walked).
The place is stunning, serene, calm, green, and beautifully done up. It’s comfortable, almost luxurious when you think of the location, and at the same time sustainable. There are a number of room types—double, single, even a duplex and the option of an entire cottage that one can hire.
The staff is lovely, very warm, courteous, and eager to regale their guests with stories about the region and the local food and the nearby villages. They can whip up delicious, healthy meals made from local ingredients. Ask them for the many snacks they can give you with your evening chai or coffee and they won’t disappoint.
There are nearby treks to a temple, village, and others, all of which are beautiful and arranged for by the staff.
It’s the perfect place for families, couples, corporate retreats, and even solo travelers.
My husband and I have lazed around on the property, plucked and eaten local berries, and enjoyed the sunsets and the constant chirping of the birds. We’re definitely going to come back here!

Hidden gem! Must visit
The property is reachable by 2km trek- covered roughly in 1-1.5 hour- the views while the trek were amazing- there’s also prebooking facility for pony or palki for people who can’t trek & for luggage.
The cottages are of various types - for couples and for families.
The food served is excellent- just like homefood. The food is vegetarian unless specified beforehand.
The view of top cottage is amazing- you also get access to dining and living area.
While living there- there are some nearby treks to do - the temple and the ridge is some of things to watch.
The service was amazing and room was super clean. No noise of traffic or anyone- just nature
I loved my stay here !
For winter travellers- they have bed heaters, high quality room heaters too, so don’t worry.
The view is breathtaking!
