Worst stay ever – total scam, not even worth 1⭐

Stayed at Hotel Shompen and honestly, it doesn’t deserve even 1 star.
We booked a deluxe room for 4 people (2 adults + 2 kids), and the experience was terrible from the start. The room felt extremely suffocating and cramped.
The washroom had a horrible foul smell—even though it looked clean, the odor was unbearable, like a public toilet. It was genuinely difficult to even use it.
Basic amenities were missing—no toiletries like dental kits, and you had to call and request everything separately. The bedsheets and towels had stains, clearly not cleaned properly.
The WiFi was completely useless—it didn’t connect even once. We entered the correct password multiple times, but it kept showing “network not available”. So basically, no WiFi despite what they claim.
At their rooftop café (Andaman Kitchen). They added water bottles to our bill that we never took for Rs 70/- . When we pointed it out, they said the bill was already printed and couldn’t be changed, and instead tried to “compensate” by giving 2 Coke cans. This didn’t feel like a mistake—it felt completely intentional.
For ₹3500, this place is absolutely not worth it. Poor hygiene, bad service, and shady billing practices.
Would NOT recommend this hotel at all.

The Great Hotel

I had a good stay at Hotel Shompen in Port Blair. The hotel offers a comfortable and convenient experience, especially for travelers looking for a decent stay at a reasonable price.
The rooms were clean, well-maintained, and had all the basic amenities required. The staff was friendly and supportive, making the overall stay hassle-free.
The location is quite convenient, with easy access to nearby attractions and transport options. The ambience is simple yet pleasant.

Best room size- Booked family room

On our recent trip to Andaman, we had booked some other hotel much in advance before our trip, we were 3 adults and looking for either 2 rooms or one family room. Close to our travel date i was reviewing and most of the hotels did not have a good size family room and even if they had the extra adult was accommodated in the same room. Some hotels confirmed they wouldn't give a rolling bed but just an extra mattress. It was then when I came across Hotel Shompen and booked it instantly, the best part was their family room was of very good size and they provided 2 king beds, with privacy for one room, as good as 2 separate rooms with one washroom. Our stay was very comfortable, food quality, breakfast spread, hospitality, staff courtesy, communication, service was all good. Their roof top restaurant is very airy, and you can sit there and relax for hours. Both their restaurants are very relaxing with good ambience. The hotel is centrally located walkable to cellular jail through aberdeen market, annapurna veg restaurant, gol gappa and chaat points very close.
