Excellent place to stay - Jayaram Hotel

Old hotel, reasonable price, restaurant staff rude
First day the room was very noisy with the kitchen work
Offloading of materials etc
We had to shift to another room
This was comfortable
Very less charging points
The restaurant staff think they r giving us free food
We can't understand tamil names of many dishes
They don't care to tell a few words about it
Complimentary breakfast is a waste
Idli is sour undercooked
Vada was not hot
And restaurant is poor lit in the morning
They swich off some lights and it becomes dark
No ventilation
Reception staff are good
Laundry service very good

Disappointing experience
Sorry to say , I am disappointed.
Only good thing I can say is Breakfast !! It is very tasty and coffee is amazing !!!
Location is not convenient, if you want to walk to places. It is in proper market area. Crowded and noisy . Also the area is dirty. I am not sure about the safety in that area , if you want to walk in the late evenings.
Rooms are big and comfortable. But not quite.
Our room was in ground floor. We could hear the people talking outside. also the noise from the road too .
Shower area not separated and No floor mat in bathroom . It becomes a mess after having shower. They didn't have mat outside bathroom door also !
They don't provide face towels in bathroom. Even if you ask !!!
Toiletries (shampoo and shower gel) given were so tiny, not sufficient even for a single use. And they don't refill it for the next day ! So, better carry your own for safer side.
No hair dryer and it seems hotel doesn't provide one even after asking. (My second experience in Pondicherry).
Service is pathetic ! You have to ask them multiple times to get something you need. Sad part is, there is no guarantee of you getting it.
I read lot about their restaurant. Again I am disappointed.
Restaurant is so crowded as it is open for all.
No policy to accommodate hotel guests on priority. We were made to share table with a couple. That too after waiting for 15- 20 min.
Note that, it is a pure vegetarian hotel. Also note, hotel don't serve Alcohol .
