We stayed here for a night , family of 3 . The location is on crowded street , but inside the hotel, it was quite. The rooms , service, cleanliness , reception , etc were very good . Enjoyed the Complimentary breakfast. Temple is about a km , we decided to walk but footpath was not clean , so on return took auto ( 100 Rs). The hotel car parking place is good. Enjoyed my short stay in this hotel and would definitely prefer it again.

Run away!

Horrible experience! 2 nights, 1st night I accepted the proposed room because tired. Bathroom where you can hear the sounds of other bathrooms, filthy fridge, broken window repaired by gray tape, stained bed cover...
And incompetent and obnoxious staff. Riggling when I explained to them what was wrong, absolutely not reactive ‘
One of my worst experiences, go your way!

Decent Hotel

A decent hotel in Thanjavur which gets a huge international tourist footfall. Its biggest USP is its proximity to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Brihadeeshwar Temple.
The hotel itself is mid range with modest facilities. Food is all right, though the restaurant staff try to make all efforts to make guests eat south Indian food which is easily available! Rooms are a decent size and very reasonably priced. Location f the hotel is good as its close to the Market. The staff is very helpful and take time to guide guests!

If you want to sleep request a room at the back of the Hotel Gnanam

We stayed one night at the Hotel Gnanam in Thanjavur. This was booked as part of our Essence of Idyllic South India tour operated by Payless Tours. We would not choose to stay at this hotel if other options were available.
We were allocated a room on the first floor facing away from the busy road outside. Unfortunately it was a twin and we asked our guide to have this changed to a double. When asked if we wanted to face away from the road we said we didn’t care, just didn't want a twin. Bad decision.
To the positive. The hotel has a ‘resto bar’ where we were able to have some Kingfishers with both our lunch and dinner. The staff in here were super lovely, the beer cold and the food was very good.
Our second room was also on the first floor. It faced out to the VERY NOISY road. The window was held together with packing tape. Diagonally opposite the hotel is a bus station and buses with incredibly loud air horns were constantly passing through the intersection near the hotel.
The hotel was dark and just felt old. Our room with the broken window was far from four stars. The strange small wet room bathroom was also not what we’d expect from a four star property.
As a gay male couple we always travel with geographical and social awareness. This was the only hotel we stayed at that l felt anything other than welcomed by the front desk staff.

Spacious and neat rooms

Spacious rooms have enough room for 3 people to sleep. Decent view of the city, near the bus stand and railway station, has an in-house restaurant, the rooms are neat and clean
