Perfect place to rest and relax
We booked this last minute while travelling around India. We had been in the hussle and bussle of many Indian cities and craved some quiet and calm, this is what we got! We stayed in the retreat with a 3 meal day package and it was amazing. We used the pool daily and enjoyed the superb food, fish curry, chilli chicken, Dahl and unbeatable fresh pineapple juice. The views were spectacular and staff couldn't have done more for us. Particular shout-out to Siva Raj and Sujit in the restaurant

Not recommended
Stayed here for a few days in their most expensive room, and honestly, the experience was just average. Considering the amount they charge, I expected a much higher standard. There are quite a few things the management seriously needs to look into.
The experience started at the reception itself. When we arrived, there was no proper greeting or welcome. After we handed over our ID, we were simply left standing there. Nobody explained where the room was, what facilities were available, or what we needed to know about the property. The receptionist's attitude also felt very unprofessional and disinterested.
The same continued with the other staff. During our stay, hardly anyone greeted us. Most of the staff looked extremely serious, and there was no sense of the warm hospitality you normally expect at a premium resort. I actually met only two staff members during the entire stay who genuinely greeted us with a "Good morning."
The food was probably the biggest disappointment.
For breakfast, the options were very limited. What was served as ottappam was basically a small dosa. They had something they called bhatura, but it looked more like a small, shapeless maida poori. The bhaji served with it was also not good. When you're paying this much for a room, you expect at least a decent breakfast with some variety and properly prepared food. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case here.
Housekeeping was another issue. The room wasn't cleaned unless we specifically called and asked them to do it. Even when the housekeeping staff came, they didn't properly check everything. For example, they noticed that the toothpaste we had been using was finished, but didn't replace it with a new one. The balcony was also left unclean, and I had to specifically ask them to clean that as well.
There were also some basic maintenance issues. The water flow in the bathroom was extremely low, which made using the shower and washbasin inconvenient. More importantly, the room door couldn't be properly locked from the inside. That's a basic safety issue that should have been fixed immediately.
The concept of the resort is actually good, and I can see the potential. The property itself has a nice idea behind it, but the way it is being managed and maintained doesn't match the pricing or the positioning.
The biggest problem seems to be the lack of proper staff training and attention to basic hospitality. At a premium resort, guests shouldn't have to repeatedly ask for basic things like room cleaning, toiletries, balcony cleaning, or even information about the property. These should happen automatically.
And finally, we stayed in their most premium room, yet the bed was just a standard double bed — not a queen and definitely not a king. For the price being charged, that's difficult to justify.
Overall, I don't feel this property currently offers a premium resort experience. With the same amount of money, there are many other resorts where you can get better rooms, better food, better service, and much better hospitality.
The property has potential, but the management needs to seriously work on staff training, housekeeping, food quality, maintenance, and basic guest service before it can justify its current pricing.

Beautiful Resort, Average Experience
Me and my wife stayed at Amara Ayurveda during the first week of May 2026. The resort is at the top of a cliff and on the way, there is a beautiful view of the beach. The architecture is appreciable as the way the cottages are built and stone paths are carved, is a nice work. The reception staff is welcoming. The room is designed beautifully, but for the price we pay, they could have have set up a king size or queen size bed. Even for hotels charging daily rent below rs.3000, they give a queen size bed, but here they had only a double bed. The bathroom and other amenities were good. I had an Ayurveda body massage at the centre and the therapist did a good job. There is a salt water pool which is not well-maintained. There are monkey on the premises and you should always keep your doors locked. I had to say the food is the poorest service offered her, both dinner and breakfast. We ordered a continental type of fish dish in the menu. they gave as fried fish with some carrot around it and a lemon slice. There are foreign tourists who take Ayurveda package and stay in the resort for one or two weeks. They have separate food. I think much care and hospitality is shown towards such tiurists rather than native travellers. Overall, I could say the resort is not worth the price we pay for the services.
