Fantastic staff behaviour and cooperation.
Stayed in rooms nos. 203 and 206
1. Bathrooms need major upgradation. No exhaust fans, wet and dry areas not separated, flushing not adequate, basin faucets not up to the mark.
2. Flushing was so pathetic in room no. 206 had to change to room no. 204.
3. No hot water taps in basins of rooms 206/204.
4. Closets in rooms nos. 204/206 too small.
5. Entrance to balcony in room no. 203 is very low. I banged my head once.
6. Location of the hotel is superb if one stays in the Ganga-facing rooms like we did.
7. Restaurant food is good.
8. Car booking for trips from hotel desk is very convenient.
9. Staff behaviour and cooperation is fantastic.

Great location, but..........
Great location with front line room, directly overlooking the Ganges.
Staff are delightful and eager to help although my request for an airport pick up was not replied to and my joirney to the hotel was horrendous. 1 cab, 2 rickshaws and lots of walking through very narrow, dirty lanes. I almost gave up. From taxi drop off it took me over an hour !
Views are stunning and you are in a great possition for the evening shows.
However the room was a complete shock. Nothing like the photos on line.
Door to small bacony would not close. Room was tiny. Paint peeling off walls and woodwork. It needed cleaning and repainting. Hasnt been done for many years ! However sheet and towel where very white and spotlessly clean.
Shower room was a disaster. A wet room with a bucket ! Tiny too.
Food in restaurant was very good.

Varanasi
We were coming by car but the hotel is in one of the narrow lanes . We had to leave our car and call the hotel. After that we got a phone call saying you all come in a rickshaw and be prepared to walk. We were astonished. However 2 people came to meet us . We had to leave our rickshaw as well and walk through dirty by lanes. We asked for room upstairs . They gave room at the bottom. Room was dirty. Bucket for bath water was dirty. The wiring if the electric kettle was too short. There is a big hole and no net where water passes through and after shower the bathroom will be flooded with water. No hand towels either . The bed sheets looks creased and unwashed and used by others.
I have given2 star because the staff were trying to help but the walk to reach this place should have been mentioned . Rooms seems not clean and the window area is broken

Extremely overpriced with second rate facilities!!
We were extremely disappointed with the Palace and staff as the price paid for accommodation did not match the expectation.
For example, no hot water or shower service for three days, we left and forfeited two nights accomodation due to the inability of staff to rectify our concern over three days - staff did not seem concerned we were cutting our visit short.
Wifi - nonexistent and required continuous discussion with staff to assist with limited success.
Exposed electrical cables - when reported to staff - remedy was to tape up.
Heritage marketing includes providing a price point that matches safety, comfortability and customer service.
It is clear this hotel is accessing online accommodation sites inflating prices only to then offer great discounts - beware and cross check prices against other online booking sites.

Dwivedi Hotels Palace on Steps offers a mixed experience. The room was basic but stuffy and smelly, with unpleasant odors from the area below the windows. The hotel is slightly dated, yet the staff was friendly and helpful.
The location is fantastic, close to Dashashwamedh Ghat, where you can enjoy a vibrant evening ceremony. The view from the room overlooking the river is breathtaking. Highly recommend dining at Aadha-Aadha Café for clean, tasty, and affordable meals. The rooftop ambiance is lovely. Mona Lisa Café is another great nearby option. Overall, a good stay for its location and views, despite minor issues.
