Courteous service but cleanliness and maintenance issues

We stayed for 1 night in this hotel while visiting Sarnath. The hotel is located at the far end of a lane leading from the main road, which gets narrower as you approach it, however the Ola taxi took us there without any problem. Not safe for walking around after dark as the area is quite isolated, but the location is walking distance from the Sarnath excavations and museum, so served our purpose as our visit was scheduled for the next morning. On arrival at the hotel around 10 pm, we were allotted a room with a king sized bed as requested, the room was spacious with a bed, TV, wardrobe, table and 2 chairs; kettle, complimentary sachets of tea, coffee, 2 bottles of drinking water and toiletries were promptly supplied on request. The view from the window was nice and the locality very quiet. We ordered dinner room service, which arrived promptly and was satisfactory but expensive.
The big disappointment was that none of the charging points worked and the line tripped each time we tried to plug in our phone or the kettle, in the process our mobile charger got fused and we were unable to charge our phones or use the kettle. The door knob also came out in our hand, which got repaired by a service man, but they could not do anything about the non functional electrical points. Fortunately, the lights, fan and AC worked. The towels looked clean but faded and seemed quite worn out. While the mattress of the bed and the pillows were very comfortable, the pillowcases seemed unwashed, found some strands of hair on them, the bedsheet was stained and was not fresh either. The place was full of mosquitoes despite a mosquito repellent being plugged in. We supplemented with incense stick repellent which we had carried.
Toilet and bathroom were clean. The breakfast included in the package, was minimal but adequate. The doorman, porters, and reception staff were courteous and helpful.

The room is very dirty. It is still not up to international standard. But it is good that no mosquito in the room.
