Extremely helpful, decent overall

I reached out to the hotel to figure out onward travel to Siau. Joe was extremely helpful, and figured out all the information on boat tickets (difficult to find info online).
When we got there, they upgraded our room for free. The room and bathroom were clean. The A/C works, but the TV didn't and the wifi only works in the lobby.
The reception was also very helpful.

Apparently renovations have taken place....if that's the case they need to get a refund from the builders.

We only stayed here one night in transit to Bunaken. That one night was enough. If you stay any longer you will leave depressed.
Apparently renovations have taken place since the last reviews were left in here in 2014...I think that is a totally lie!
Firstly on the stairs leading to our bedroom there was an overflowing ashtray and cigarettes and ash were covering the floor.
Our bedroom was dark, dirty and thoroughly depressing. The sheets did not look clean on the bed with a definite cigarette hole in the sheet.
The bathroom had holes in the ceiling, the bathtub was stained a yellowish brown colour (needless to say we opted for no shower in the morning), the floor was dirty. There was however bars of soap which was some sort of miracle.
They advertise hot water and tea/coffee facilities in rooms - there is no such thing and unfortunately the staff do not speak a work of English so they couldn't understand when we asked about this.
Breakfast is a joke! We were pointed to a room off the main lobby where breakfast is. Stale bread, no toaster, butter which has been left out to the elements overnight, nothing to add really.
Basically, for a cheap one night stop over this is ok, but it is by far the worst 'hotel' we have ever stayed in during our 7 months of travelling SE Asia.

Horrible experience

We came very late and tired, so we didn't research about where we are going to stay for the night. This hotel is the most terrible place to stay yet.
The bathroom has hole on the ceiling, the water run very small, the floor and the bath tub are disgusting dirty, and the drain doesn't work properly. Especially the shower, it can't be adjusted so the water goes straight to the wall where you hang your towels.
But if you low on cash and only want to spend one night, go and have fun here.

Dear Mr Rainer,
Thanks Mr Rainer for the review.
In the year of 2014, we were on the process of reconstruction and rebuilding this hotel, because of the ownership change. Therefore, we accept that there was so many things that not perfect in our property at that time both the facility and management.
But time after time, we trying to improve and develop more and more facility to this hotel, such as Minimarket, Restaurant, SPA and Massage, and Salon.
And also, we trying to improve our management for the product and service of this hotel, while keep maintaining good price for our customer
Now, we hope from the development of new facility that we had done, and our new management, we could improve our customer expectation and experience in our hotel.

honest employee

i was arrived on manado on march 18th, the taxi driver took me here, got checked in on room 208 deluxe with affordable rate (around $29 per night), i was bought some local food like palamanis, bahea, etc in a superstore nearby the hotel, when i went to the street and want to have some pictures of manado i realize that i must have left my canon dsrl digital camera somehow in someplace, so i cant took any pictures, sadly went back to the hotel. when i got back to the hotel one of the employee handed over my $369 canon dsrl instantly..!! he said that i left it in the couch i've sat before i left the hotel...what a sincere..!! gratefully thanking them and spare some bucks for the frontdesk crew,,again it was a great moment,,i really recommends this hotel,,and i will get back to this hotel if i come to visit manado in the future.

Average, a bit buggy, ok for a night or two

Central location with a large clean reception area. WiFi is only available at the dining and reception area, not in your room. The room we got was on the first level and a few mosquitoes were buzzing in the room and when we were using the internet on our laptop near the reception area. The owner was around and gave us a discount when we arrived because rates were much higher than we expected. He also offered us water and got his staff to spray insecticide around us - appreciate it. The receptionist however is typical Indonesian business-minded i.e. she didn't want to give us a discount initially, tried to increase our agreed rate when we left and 'negotiated' a taxi for us that we ended up paying by the meter rate which was half the price she said to pay because our cab driver was an honest man. The room itself had a tv, a large bed - quite comfortable with 4 pillows and good sheets, a somewhat shabby couch, clean but worn out looking bathroom. Overall it was good for a night and you'll want to move on from Manado.
