Best place to stay in ROTE for surfers
Dave is the best. If want to be looked after by a genuine, absolute all round nice guy then this is the place for you. Dave is a genius when it comes to thinking of all the little touches that make a surf camp awesome. He really has made the place beautiful and sustainability plus as it was built using all local materials. We have stayed in many different surf accommodations during 10-15 years of trips to Indonesia and this is by far our favourite. The rooms are huge, there is a beautiful little plunge pool, and the food is incredible. The best part for us is the boats that are included out to the breaks. They wait while you surf and you won't be left behind! Don't be persuaded to stay on the beach front, it is quieter, and cooler back from the beach and you can be at the beach in 2 mins anyway if you want.

Awesome Surf Camp, don't go elsewhere
This place is awesome. Amazing surf camp just a very short scooter ride or walk from the surf. Dave and his Indonesian wife Janet have thought of everything and made this camp solefull and given it all the traditional touches. The value is great with amazing food thanks to Janet and the girls, great bungalows cleaned spotless daily also unlimited surf boats daily. The pool is rad and they treat it naturally so no chemicals. Also has ping pong etc. By glancing at the other camps this seems far superior as it has beautiful jungle around it and a great common area, these guys have given attention to detail on every aspect. Don't be put off as it's not right on the beach, it's great value and a beautiful property. Will be back as it's been my favourite surfcamp in Indo so far!

Perfect Place in Rote
I spent a week with Dave & Jenet at their beautiful bungalows in Nemberala on Pulau Rote in Indonesia. The beautiful rooms and great bar/lounge made for perfect comfort in this out of the way place. The food served in the communal eating lounge was delicious with great breakfasts included along with wonderful fresh food in delicious dinners every night. Lunches are at the Lualaba Restaurant on the beach road where you can arrange to get the boat out to Besialu Reef for the most awesome left hand reef break. I was working, filming and recording and the food, comfort and hospitality made it the perfect work trip.... with a load of surfing thrown in!

Thank you Mick. We try to give guests staying at Lualemba what we we would like while on holidays. Eat well with a quite atmosphere to relax and make new friends. Try to have a hassle free time when enjoying activities while in Rote.

Totally relaxing, great hosts
As a solo traveller, I could not have been happier with accommodation. The lovely staff and owners more than make up for the minor inconveniences.
The bungalows are cleaned daily and lovely to stay in. They are away from the noisy main road and goats, pigs and cows that inhabit the area are kept out by the high surrounding wall. All meals are included and are eaten at Jenet's Cafe near the beach. A mountain bike is supplied.
Dave will organise a motor bike and regularly takes guests on his catamaran out to pancake island for snorkelling and surfing.
Not being a surfer, I did not avail myself of the facilities for surfing, but I understand they are great.
This is a cut above the backpacker accommodation available around.

ACOMMADATION IN ROTE
Hi. I would like to give my review of my Stay at Lualemba Bungalows in Rote. Rooms are simple , but very tidy and comfortable. Janet and her family are absolutely wonderful hosts . She is married to a Aussie, Dave. A very nice man and in the know with everything from surfing to fishing and all the neighbouring Islands. It was 1 year ago that I was there so the pool should be finished by now. The restaurant they have directly opposite the surf break serves the best food at very cheap prices. I can't wait to get back to the world class surf breaks.They have a complimentary boat to take you to the breaks as it is around a kilometer out. They have bikes to ride and I think now even Paddle boards. I absolutely love the place. hope this helps. Steve

Thanks Steve. Yes we do have stand up paddle boards available for guests and surfboards. At Lualemba our bungalows are improving every year. We now have shower, more modern toilets and vanity for better convince to guests.
