Khan Saray Hotel in Sulaymaniya

Khan Saray Hotel
We booked the hotel online through this WhatsApp number (+964 770 928 6000).
I went there with my friends from the Netherlands, and the place was amazing super clean and stylish. You’d really enjoy staying there, everything looks nice and fancy.
The price for a double room was 80,000 IQD, which is pretty affordable. They also have free parking underneath the hotel, so you can park your car or your guide can park there too.

A very, very bad experience

A very bad experience, and I would never repeat it or recommend it to anyone. The elevators are a hassle, and we have to change elevators just to get to the garage. If we want to go downstairs, we have to take regular stairs.

Except that we had booked suites, but they canceled the reservation because they were fully booked. Also, the rooms were very dirty, the duvet was old, and they fined us because it got wet. When we asked for a replacement, they charged us fifty.

Very nice hotel in the Bazaar area

Good hotel in the heart of the Bazaar area. Everywhere was very clean and nicely decorated. Slept well here and the breakfast choice was outstanding! Only complaint would be that the shower curtain rail was too high so the floor got very wet when showering because the curtain didn't reach the ground. Easily sorted if someone could be bothered. Loved watching bread being made in the bakery across the road.

A comfortable stay experience

The hotel offers free buffet breakfast and fast wifi. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. There is a large table in the room, which is very suitable for work. There is also a full-length mirror, which is convenient for us to dress. Overall, it was a very good stay experience, and the price was very cheap, only 30 US dollars for a single room!

Needs upkeep and maintenance

Stayed two nights. Located inside a mall with quite a bit of noise from the street. Upon check-in, we got only one key card for two people (why don't they provide two to begin with?) and, when we asked for a second key, were told to come back later because they were busy. It took two more trips to the front desk to get a second working key, as the first time the key didn't work.
The room door couldn't be secured from the inside, as the deadbolt was misaligned and the latch broken.
Minimal room amenities (safe too small for a laptop, no electric kettle). The night lamp had a burned-out light bulb. Reasonably comfortable beds, but only one pillow each and no extra pillows. Sufficient number of power sockets.
Tiny bathroom with no shelf space. Small shower with good water pressure, but barely lukewarm water. There was a 20-cm gap between the bott9m of the shower curtain and the floor, and it was impossible to shower without getting the floor wet.
Wifi was very slow, required repeat sign-in, and didn't automatically reconnect after the frequent brief power outages common in the area.
Breakfast buffet with limited selection.
