I was really pleasantly supervised by this place. The room was pleasant and the town/village was interesting. The food coming out of the kitchen was superb. Great pub grub in the evening, and fantastic breakfast in the morning. The only reason I didn't give the place 5 stars was the service on check in, in the diner and on check out, which was a little flat. Other than that I recommend that you check out this little gem of a place if passing. Great value.

Best service , food and accommodation

Recently attended a wedding at the hotel - the whole experience from start to finish was phenomenal, staff are dedicated and very hardworking, they went above and beyond to cater to every detail , accommodation was fantastic and the food and service is definitely the best I’ve ever had , great attention to detail and nothing was missed , would definitely recommend best food , accommodation and service ,

Fishing weekend

We were a group of anglers staying the last weekend in August. We have been coming the same dates every year. Like the previous year's we we're well catered for by the hotel. The hotel and rooms are very clean and modern. The food as always is excellent and the staff very friendly and hard working. We will be re booking again for next year. Tony Murphy

Could do a whole lot better

On a positive note the food was very good, however the kitchen is completely let down by the service front of house. Really disappointed to experience this and with the expense of eating out at its current rate. So much work could be done at little or no cost to the hotel to train staff. I asked (with genuine reason) for a table in a little more private area and was given the most public table available. Any food or drink I ordered was given to my companion. I don't think I've ever experienced that anywhere before. There was clear priority given to a group of people - even before they arrived. So their orders were started before my table despite our earlier arrival. Several things asked for didn't arrive. No common sense from waiting staff, and no courtesy whatsoever. The group were passing through.... we are local and I personally would not be returning for this type of service. In a very unusual occurrence the same day, I found myself in another well-known establishment by Lough Ennell with my family and was bowled over by the amazing service despite how absolutely busy they were. It really doesn't take much to serve with a smile and engage with the guests. And it earns tips too of course.

Family couples break

Had a great stay at the castle varagh hotel in castlepollard lovely rooms and food was superb staff were attentive and friendly and was good value for money we will definitely return and would highly recommend
