Really lovely stay!!
Stayed here after a family wedding in August and it was lovely! Big spacious room and bathroom. Really comfy bed, slept very well. Easy access late at night via doorbell outside. Lovely smelling products in the bathroom, nice shower. Friendly reception staff, were able to leave our bags whilst we explored Donegal in the morning too. Would definitely stay here again if in the area :)

Good food and bar, other improvements needed
Excellent bar staff, excellent staff in restaurant. Friendly, quick service, good pub grub.
Reception - Abbey management please talk to the young lady and explain how to crack a smile, how to welcome people, how to apologise the next morning when the smoke alarm went off at 2.30am during the night.
Explain to her that breakfast finishes at 10am so guests dont bother trying to get breakfast after service has finished. Let her know not to subsequently send guests to a cafe that is closed on a Sunday.
Spacious, clean room but windows open onto extractors - very noisy.
Nasty instant coffee.
Extra single bed in room like sleeping on bed of rock, dreadful.
Good location to fall into bed after night out but maybe the Abbey is relying on guests being close to comatose to sleep on dreadful beds, in noisy rooms with an alarm going off.
But the awful customer service on reception annoyed me the most, a bad reflection on what could be an otherwise good hotel, (with some improvements).

Room type rectified
Initially i was not happy with the bedroom allocated to us. will have to say that it was my fault because I only bookeda room walk in shower thinking that I would get a handle to hold onto in the shower. Apparently I should have asked for an easy access room. We initially got a room that was rather small which had a king size bed and a single bed. In my opinion was really far too small for anyone. There was no need to have a single bed in the room also. The next morning I went to reception after breakfast and spoke to a lovely lady who was extremely helpful. Fortunately for us there was an easy access room available. The difference was incredible. We got a lovely big room which was easy for me to get around and a lovely wet room which suited my needs perfectly. All the staff were friendly and very helpful. They were top class. The breakfast was basic and adequate. In my opinion it was not what we expected for a four star hotel. The bedrooms were lovely and clean. The hotel is in an excellent location.

Terrible !
Evening staff very rude. Requested a fan early evening during check in . Was told they would bring one up right away . Went to dinner requested again at front desk for a fan early evening. Again was told they would bring one up . Returned from dinner still no fan . Was told then that they ran out . Room was very hot. Terrible night of sleep . Would not stay there again !

The hotel was advertised with air conditioning. The bar is air conditioned. The rooms do not have fans. Apparently they only have a few and should be reserved in advance. The room had no tissues. I would never recommend
