Amazing staff, rooms a bit dated

The staff at this hotel is A+ in rating by my standards. Super pleasant and helpful for check in to check out. While the room was a bit dated and the shower was a bit difficult to maneuver as it was so narrow, it was clean and comfortable. The view was nonexistent but the windows opened for fresh air. The heating/cooling system was difficult to figure out and make sure to put your key card in the slot next to the door for the lights. Overall would stay again if I am ever back in Ireland.

Excellent

First visit here and the hotel lives up to its star billing on TA, we attended an afternoon function in the ballroom and the setting was excellent, food excellent and staff likewise, in particular a big thank you to Matthew on bar service. This young man is a credit and asset to the hotel and has a winning disposition.
Just one niggle however, at the end of the function tea and sandwiches were served and most people were not inclined to partake of sandwiches as the lunch meal had been so substantial.
Some members of the waiting staff kindly offered to provide bags or boxes if people wished to take away sandwiches rather than have them thrown away, a very sensible suggestion. Eventually a different waitress declined to allow this to happen on apparently health and safety grounds.
To cap it off one couple at our table were staying overnight in the hotel but were still told no food could be taken away, I have never come across that before in any establishment and everyone else was likewise baffled.

Bad experience

Waited a very long time to even get a menu. From the time our main course arrived until we left not one staff member checked if we needed anything or if we would anything else (we would have had a dessert). Service very disappointing.

A fantastic wedding venue

My wife and I visited the Headfort Arms Hotel in Kells, Meath to attend our friends daughter’s wedding. From start to finish we received excellent service from all the staff during our stay. Very friendly efficient check in and allowed to check in earlier to prepare for the wedding that afternoon which was much appreciated. The hotel even arranged the small private chapel for the service, within 100 yards of the hotel. After the service we were entertained in the beautiful gardens in glorious sunshine where we enjoyed tasty canapés, drinks and live music. Then it was time for dinner and again the staff looked after us so well, 4 courses of the highest quality, all served very professionally to ensure the food was piping hot and no delays between courses.
After the meal it was time to party and the live music from The Laura’s (if I remember correctly) was fantastic. I have to say that this was one of the best weddings we have had the pleasure of attending and this was mainly down to the hotel staff and it’s proprietor Olivia who was in hand to oversee that everything went to plan. Also a big shoutout for her manager Kevin who seemed to be everywhere checking that the bridal party and guests received first class service.

Unprofessional staff.

Went to the Headfort Arms Hotel for a meal with friends recently. The food was lovely and we were served by one really lovely girl whose name I unfortunately didn’t catch. However, another young waiter called Conor seemed very unprofessional throughout the evening. We were left waiting for long periods a few times and some of our orders were brought out incorrectly.
What upset us most was that he asked one of my friends how far along she was in her pregnancy, when she actually isn’t pregnant. My friend already struggles with her weight, so this comment was very hurtful and embarrassing for her. I understand people can make mistakes and I don’t know if it was his first day or not, but comments like that are completely inappropriate and staff should be more mindful when speaking to customers. Unfortunately, it really affected our overall experience.

Many thanks for your feedback which is taken both seriously and personally by all of our team at the Headfort.
Upon investigation with the team, we don’t have such a member on the team and would welcome the opportunity to discuss the matter with you in person - if you can please call the hotel on 046.9240063 and ask for myself (Olivia). Reviews like this have a profound effect on our valued team members as well as the reputation of our business and we have an obligation to fully look into the matter to uphold our values of a family-run business, professional service and etiquette. I look forward to discussing the matter fully, many thanks.
