There's magic at Mountain View, Lauragh.

Even with the best intentions, the hosts at a Bed and Breakfast are usually very busy people.
Sheila and Dermot with their two daughters are very busy people but it was amazing how they made time for us.
Sheila drove us up to and back from a local restaurant, she was available to chat from time to time, the tea and biscuits upon arrival were casually presented and their pride of place was palpable.
There was no menu for the breakfast. Just the request: ' what would you like?'
We were able to walk around their farm, respectfully, and it was wonderful to find walking sticks resting against fences - to take, and use and put back when finished.
The laneways, the little river, the mighty oaks growing alongside the mature cypress, the foxglove entertaining the hungry bee. An overnight became a vacation for the senses. As everybody else said: 'We will return'.

A wonderful remote stop.

A little remote. Recommend enjoying Sheila's cooking for dinner (fee). Order a day in advance. Pastoral and mountain views.
We where walking. Sheila brought out the map and gave us great route ideas to suit our needs. She also provided Transportation to accommodate (fee).
Comfortable place. Simply loved being there.

Walking the Beara # 4

Sheila is the hostess with the most. Getting to the house from the Beara way is long on asphalt roads but she will give you a ride, for an extra cost, the next day to avoid another 6 km of asphalt busy road, skipping this dangerous portion is worth the price. She does provide an evening meal for an extra cost but let me tell you her food is amazing. After staying here you will feel part of the family!

We highly recommend staying here.

Wow this place is great! The views, the comfortable and clean accommodations, the hosts, ..everything is top notch. I cannot recommend this place enough. Book it and stay as long as they let you! The property is perfect. Did I mention the views? Great location for seeing many things on your Ireland visit. Be certain to get the address correct as there are several B&Bs with the same name across Ireland. Sheila has well places signs as you get close that make it easy to reach the property.

Great stay and great host

We stayed here while walking the Beara Way. Sheila, the owner, was very welcoming, picked us up and her husband took us past the road walking part the day after. She also cooked a delicious meal. Breakfast was great as well. We were staying in the cottage with our own room and bathroom. This was large, clean and comfortable.
