Part of the family

The owner invited us to join his family in an annual get together in memory of his brother. So thankful and full of great memories, song and beer. We then had one of the best meals on our trip. Weeere then asked to join some of the family at a pub next door. We will never forget our stay. Thank you

Service is very poor

What let's this place down is it's service. The food is good but with certain things very overpriced, the wagu steak for example. At these prices the service needs to be better. Staff are sullen and disinterested. Not good enough in my opinion. I won't be going back.

Vaughans Anchor Inn.

This is our 2nd visit to Vaughans Anchor Inn.
We really enjoyed it on both occasions. We had 2 delicious evening meals there as well as breakfast on 3 mornings.
The accommodation is comfortable and great to just head upstairs after dinner and a nightcap!
A few nice touches with tea and coffee making facilities in the room and delicious cookies and crisps.
A hairdryer and iron and ironing board.
Toiletries in the en suite .
V friendly helpful staff, family?
Altogether a very pleasant stay.

Rest, rewind & relax

Arrived in West Clare to spend a few nights just for a little rewind, recharge, rest and relaxation. A friend had recommended Vaughan's to eat, so we booked in for 2 nights B&B for handiness. The room was perfect for us - the bed was super-comfy and separate from the bar/restaurant with its own entrance up a flight of stairs. Both days we had a basket of coffee pods, biscuits, crisps and replacement shower toiletries. The restaurant food was delicious with an obvious focus on locally sourced fish. The starters were preceded by a complimentary cup of soup with bread. All in all, first class and reasonable prices for the quality and standard. Had we wanted anything other than fish [we didn’t], there was beef and, I think, lamb. The beef was expensive [had we chosen that], but then beef prices are through the roof everywhere at the moment. The creme brulee we shared was divine! Breakfast on both mornings [included in the B&B price] was superb. A wide selection of cereals, granola, freshly squeezed juices, local cheeses, smoked salmon, cured meats, yoghurts etc to self-serve and also a wide choice of cooked breakfast options served by a really friendly waitress. We had the full Irish cooked breakfast one morning [served with loads of toast and Guiness brown bread] and hash browns with poached eggs and sausages the next -- basically, they'll pretty much cook to order. Tea and coffee was very good too. Overall, a very easy-going, pleasant stay in a friendly, high-quality establishment! We'll return and would highly recommend.

Didn’t live up to my expectations

Positives , service very good , prawn cocktail excellent , negative the sea food chowder was more like vegetable soup with fish , very disappointing, no flavour of fish , would rate it as worst one I ever have had , Guinness bread was lovely . Place was very clean
