A place you won't forget

Special place. Intimate and welcoming. For those who like the mountains without chaos, genuine but with taste and attention to detail. Definitely to go back.

Lunch in a Walser hut

3 days skiing in the Gressoney and Champoluc valley. Today we came across this hut by pure chance while descending into the valley. Very welcoming and characteristic Walser place nestled in the mountains. The old stable of the past has been renovated to make room for the eating area. Excellent cured meats and cheeses to be enjoyed in company, preferably with a glass of local wine or beer.

Until next time.

We return to Frantze, which in addition to being the name of the rascard is also that of the small hamlet, after two years.
If something has changed since the previous stay, then it has changed for the better, although this was almost impossible.
In the previous review I underlined the care and feminine touch of the management.
This time I would like to highlight the gastronomic part.
Those who cook truly have the magic touch. The result he manages to obtain using simple, top quality ingredients is incredible.
Eggs, courgettes, parmesan, moccetta, cinnamon, flour, barley, apples, butter, aromatic herbs.
Who will be in the kitchen? Always a woman?!
And for breakfast, in addition to cakes, there are a series of crazy biscuits.
Meliga pastries, cinnamon biscuits, amazing flaxseed biscuits.
We used the common living room space on the first floor a lot because of its peace and beauty.
I would like to point out the presence of a brand new giant bench, with a core code that refers to an audio on the history of the rascard, of Frantze and of Mrs. Dina, the last sedentary inhabitant of the Crest area.
If I really have to find a flaw, it is the curtains in the room, which are not very dark.
Two weekend nights at the end of July, booked well in advance, cost €324, with half board, plus a few extras.
Until next time.

One of our favourite hotels

This was our fourth stay at Frantze and it was just as good as ever. The location is stunning and it was great to sit out on the balcony and watch the sun go down and the piste bashers groom the nearby piste.
The room was very comfortable and kept spotlessly clean throughout the week. The staff were always friendly and helpful, which made the atmosphere in the hotel very relaxed.
The food was a real highlight and it was nice to have a choice of starter and main course. There wasn't a single dish all week that wasn't completely delicious.
We'll definitely be returning for our fifth stay in the next year or two.
