Excellent Location for Business and Leisure
I stayed at Mercure Bergamo Centro Palazzo Dolci during a business trip to Bergamo. I mainly chose this hotel because of my ALL Accor Gold membership and its excellent location close to the factory I was visiting.
The location is the hotel’s strongest feature. The train station, cafés, restaurants, supermarkets, and many shops are all within walking distance, making it very easy to get around without a car. Even Città Alta, Bergamo’s famous old town, is only about a 25-minute walk away.
The hotel itself is clean, quiet, and ideal for business travellers. If you’re expecting a luxury hotel with spacious rooms and lots of complimentary extras, this may not be the right choice. The rooms are functional rather than luxurious, and I recommend bringing your own personal toiletries if you’re used to hotels that provide more complimentary amenities. A supermarket is just a few minutes away, so buying anything you need is very easy.
The staff deserve special recognition—they were genuinely friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help.
Overall, it’s an excellent choice for business travellers or anyone looking for a clean, well-located hotel with good value for money. I would happily stay here again.

Just what we needed!
Little to say. A travel break became an opportunity to enjoy a day getting to know Bergamo Alta. From this hotel, you can reach both the center of Bergamo and the funicular. We liked everything; perhaps just a note about a breakfast area that was a bit cramped in terms of space; but perhaps we went right at peak hour. Already twenty minutes later it was more comfortable. The Privilege room was really large and comfortable. The staff was very kind. Thank you

Easy location from train
Hotel location is good.

Room I would’ve gone 5 if shampoo conditioner + moisturiser supplied (simple cost to hotel €2 p/day) - do better.
Amazing customer service:
- check-in 5 ⭐️
- reception assistance 6 ⭐️
- view - Citta Alta view from few rooms - ask when booking
- room size - old hotel but modern nice inside is very large (std dbl)
Reception: Valeria offered her personal umbrella to me as guest on pouring day when I asked for hotel umbrella. Mercure do better - have 5 spare for guests. It’s free advertising.
The not so great:
- Breakfast - it’s ok but not great. Boiled eggs are so over cooked and rubbery you could use for ping pong.
- more deserts than real food.
- coffee machine for Brekky - do better
-Safe - requires credit card payment- seriously why Accor, why?
House keeping - I had to clean the bathroom floor myself twice after each time housekeeping came, there were sticky residue drops on floor. Strange but annoying and unhygienic to walk on.
Also big issue - I left on desk my personal belongings including medication and empty small water bottle I refill. Cuts down plastic waste on trip. Housekeeping threw my meds (was small but clearly a tablet in pharmacy pack foil and my bottle away. Meds are life dependent. That has left me with 1 spare. My fault for not thinking to take extra packet but then I have customs issues, dr letter etc.
Housekeeping also removed the keycard from inside trigger holder on wall.
I advised reception. Still awaiting duty manager response.
Be warned if key to room is taken, may be mistake but there is rising theft gangs globally who pay to get a keycard & then your valuables are gone so too may be your safety if inside.
This hotel has no security for lift access, easy picking.
Parking you can pay next door.
Overall removing my personal circumstances I’d rate this a 3-3.5 star hotel.

VERY GOOD
Well located in the lower town of Bergamo, this hotel has many assets: beautiful, large, and quiet privilege room; the upper town is easy to access by bus, funicular, and even on foot—we took barely 30 minutes, but it is a climb on the last part!
The welcome is decent and the staff always responded to our requests (restocking Nespresso pods, unlocking the key, etc.).
Decent and varied breakfast with efficient staff, however the breakfast room is not at all suitable and quickly overbooked when it is crowded, a real shame.

Large reception area
Sent three emails before getting a response!
Car access is difficult and dangerous at a street corner.
No parking space in front of the hotel to unload luggage.
Immediate charge for the entire stay, even though I have an Accor card, a platinum card, and 190,000 rewards points, and hotels usually just take a card imprint.
Mediocre reception, only one person for a line of travelers.
No bar to have a drink, no mineral water in the room.
Old-fashioned, sad, and impersonal decor.
Decent breakfast, but no welcome and minimal service.
Mercure hotels are generally pleasant.
This one is not worth much!
