Relaxation for body and soul.
We really enjoyed our vacation in July 2026, very well-maintained surroundings, nicely furnished. Food was also very delicious, there is no buffet here (we had all-inclusive) you have to choose the desired dishes before lunch and dinner. Thermal swimming pool and springs were incredible. Of course there were little things to improve, in the bar only wine was offered as an alcoholic beverage, we are beer drinkers after all. All other drinks are extra charge although we had all-inclusive. Beach is far away and back to the hotel you have to walk uphill but luckily transfer to the beach and nearby town Forio is offered free of charge.

Ants everywhere in the room
Just look at the pictures and you will understand why I gave 1 star. Ants everywhere. The cleaning ladies tried their best, but you cannot fight the ants. They are coming from everywhere. This is a 2 stars hotel, not a 4 stars.

Horrible experience, not to be repeated
Non-existent air conditioning, an obsolete forced-air system, a so-called sea-view room with a horizon that blocked the view except for the sun 24/7, which made the small terrace unusable due to the suffocating heat, a shuttle with very limited hours, always assuming there was space, horrible and repetitive cuisine, lack of courtesy from some of the owners, unclean environments, and many mosquitoes, with no disinfestation despite repeated complaints.

A hotel in need of improvements
I chose this location specifically because it is a retro/vintage-style hotel, wanting to experience the authentic atmosphere of Ischia, but there are a few areas that could be improved. The room I was initially assigned was near a utility room that generated constant noise at night making it impossible to sleep but after reporting the issue at reception and viewing several other options, I was moved to a room in the main building that was perfectly fine. The staff is polite and strives to meet guests' needs. Cleaning is handled well, and the hotel grounds have an authentic, island-style charm, though they could use some sprucing up. As for the food, breakfast was repetitive; we were served the same fruit (watermelon and cantaloupe) every day—a little variety wouldn't hurt, especially given the abundance of summer fruit (though they did change the fruit selection on the last day of our stay). The cold cuts and cheeses were also the same each day. Dinner, however, offered a good variety of choices, although there were few vegetable options. Another suggestion: guests should find at least a bottle of water in the room upon arrival; if you arrive in the middle of the night, you don't even have a glass of water to drink, and there is no information indicating whether the tap water is drinkable . Would I return? Definitely not.

Old and dirty
I stayed at Hotel Galidon for one week, and unfortunately it was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I have had. Based on my experience, this property does not deserve its advertised 4-star rating.
The hotel is clearly very old and appears to have been neglected for years. Many areas are in urgent need of renovation. Instead of the atmosphere you would expect from a 4-star hotel, many of the outdoor areas are furnished with cheap plastic tables and chairs, which immediately gives the impression of a much lower-category property.
Cleanliness was the biggest disappointment. During dinner, I was served two different drinking glasses with visible lipstick marks left by previous guests. The next morning at breakfast, my coffee cup was also dirty. These are basic hygiene failures that should never happen in any hotel, especially one claiming to be 4 stars.
The bathroom was in very poor condition. The taps were heavily covered with limescale and corrosion. The shower had mold, rust, damaged seals, and obvious signs of long-term neglect. The air conditioning unit looked extremely old and poorly maintained, and the outdoor unit was in equally poor condition.
There were also ants in several outdoor areas of the hotel, including the terraces and common spaces, making it unpleasant to sit outside.
Another disappointment was the misleading presentation of the hotel. The photos create the impression of beautiful views, but my room had no attractive view at all. The reality was very different from what was advertised.
After seven nights, it became obvious that maintenance, cleanliness, and attention to detail are simply not priorities. A hotel can be old and still be clean and well maintained. Unfortunately, that was not the case here.
The staff were polite and friendly, but good service cannot compensate for poor hygiene, outdated facilities, and a property that is far below the standard expected of a 4-star hotel.
I cannot recommend Hotel Galidon. There are many better options on Ischia that offer far better value, cleaner facilities, and a much more honest representation of what guests can expect.
