Country oasis

Absolutely amazing. We were blown away. Yes, it's hard getting cases up the stairs but it's well worth it. We left our in the car and took up what we needed. The views were picture perfect. 15 min walk to local town along walking track was easy for dinners each night. We loved the honesty system for getting drinks from common kitchen area whether it was wine, chips, beer or soft drink. Highly recommend.

My personal insider tip in Appiano: Perhaps the best of the many castle hotels there

Beautiful old castle, actually even castle. Great view, beautiful rooms with beautiful antiques. Great rich breakfast on fantastic terrace. Officially only have breakfast, but you can always get bacon and cheese etc. from the kitchen at the pool and choose from a rich wine selection of the very good in-house wines and write down what you have taken.

Paradise

Such an amazing stay here, only wish we had a week instead of one night. Our room was wonderful, the breakfast great and the pool was incredible. The hosts were so welcoming, had fun exploring the castle and farm. Loved all the animals on property. We are dreaming about coming back with a group of friends. Walked right down the road and had a wonderful dinner at Stroblhof. This place is definitely a gem!!

A step back in time

Our two night stay at the Schloss Englar was the perfect way to start our holiday in South Tyrol. We were greeted by the Countess who made us extremely welcome. The infinity swimming pool has a spectacular position on a terrace of the castle and overlooking the valley. We enjoyed wandering around the castle grounds, up to the charming private chapel and through the vineyards, enjoying the sights and sounds of a rural idyll. The bedroom and bathroom were very spacious and comfortable, and everywhere was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was superb and served on the terrace in glorious sunshine. The service was faultless and made for a really cheery start to the day.

Beautiful castle, Breakfast, Great staff.

This is more of a b-and-b in a castle than a hotel, but the best b-and-b you'll ever stay in. Amazing rooms, beautiful location, views, views, views. My husband and I stayed three nights in June, and found a very warm welcome from what we realized only later were the Count and Countess themselves. Very unpretentious and unfussy place, but everything just so. Spectacular breakfast buffet served by the attentive staff, only 6 rooms, so everyone eats outside on the lawn in the summer, with sweeping vistas of the Adige valley. Very convenient to all sights in the region. As mentioned, the pool is amazing, but so is everything else.
