Fantastic and relaxed stay at the marvelous Villa Casagrande outside Florence
What a wonderful 3 night break at Villa Casagrande! My wife and I had a truly beautiful stay to celebrate our wedding anniversary in this historic villa not far from Florence. The staff were incredible, so kind, quick to help and made our stay even more pleasant. We both had lovely massages (I recommend booking in advance) and we relaxed in the spa area. One evening, we did the historic tour of the upper rooms and wine tasting which was exceptional. The guides and sommeliers were so knowledgeable and so lovely (thank you so much Anna and Francesca!) and the organic Chianti wines they produce are an absolute must to taste and buy. We’re definitely going to do the cooking class next time we go. There’s a little steep walk across the road and up to the pool area and the ‘Cielo’ restaurant next to it which were perfect and where we spent most of our time relaxing and sunbathing with the view of the trees and the Tuscan mountains. The hotel’s main restaurant ‘Terrae’ was definitely the best in Filigne (the local town) and the food and service was incredible! One of the nights we had a live musician who was fantastic. We had dinner twice there; mushroom tagliatelle, the lamb, the wild boar gnocchi and paccheri carbonara - my God! The food was to die for! The desserts were so wonderful we had to try three of them one night! The hotel is only 50 mins on the train to Florence which is one of our favourite cities to explore in one day and we picked this place especially because it’s only a 12 minute walk from the Filigne Valdarno station and avoids the need to hire a car. We went for the comfort room which was spacious and clean and the air con was great and, important for us, the bathroom had a powerful shower. We truly had a wonderful time and absolutely cannot wait to go back next year! Grazie mille Villa Casagrande!

Beautiful spacious castle and gardens with great location, friendly staff
Great location In the corner of old town, near the restaurants and the charm of the old buildings and churches; 10 minute walk to the train station. The trains to Florence are about every 30 min and easy to use and affordable (6 euro), we had a car but with the driving restrictions inside many Italian cities and parking challenges, it was easy to use the train. Beautiful castle castle-size building with beautiful serene gardens and swilling pool and spa (the reservation for the sauna and hamam was booked so we could not use it, book in advance and it is added fee). Rooms are spacious and nice, some have good views. The parking is convenient and enough. The two things that could be better: The breakfast was pretty average, generic and uninspiring, not the most plentiful choices that I have seen, it could be better for this kind of place. The WiFi keeps disconnecting all the time even while I am using it in the room, so have to log in all the time. The wine that they promote is reasonably priced but with according quality -if you are a wine connoisseur and came to Tuscany for that, skip it; if you are not too picky, then it works.

A beautiful hotel in a lovely little town. The staff were amazing, so helpful. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. I didn’t use the indoor pool or spa facilities so can’t comment on them. The outdoor pool is across the road and up a steep hill, so great if you have a car but not so much if you are on foot! Overall a very good stay.

Central, clean and very comfortable in old worldly surroundings.
Excellent location on the edge of town, but so accessible to the main square via the small gate. Rooms were spacious, clean, comfortable. We loved to views to the garden and the dining area. Excellent choices for breakfast. Staff were very helpful. Especially Lorenzo, we thoroughly enjoyed the wine bar he recommended.

Beautiful historic hotel
A beautiful atmospheric hotel just 45 minutes from Florence airport. Superb evening meal in the open air courtyard with excellent waiting staff.
We also enjoyed wandering through the vintage agricultural/viticultural machinery and implements. We were sorry we only had one night to spend here!
