Loved this place so much!!
Pros:
Location: It’s located less than a 10 minute walk from the train station and the Santa Maria Novella church, where many tours begin.
Room: I was traveling solo, so I stayed in a room for 1-2 people. The room was a great size - plenty of room to lay luggage out and still be able to move around with ease. The bed is firm, which I love - especially after a long day of travel. The bathroom was also large with extremely soft towels. The furnishings are nice and homey, like you’re staying in someone’s home instead of a hotel.
Quality of sleep: I had my first good night’s sleep in days here. I was worried with the layout of the place (three apartments facing a common area) the walls would be thin, and I’d be kept up by the other occupants. I didn’t hear a peep, and I know that’s not because they were silent because when I came in at night, I heard the man next door talking loudly on his phone when I was in the common area, but once I was in my room, I heard nothing. No street noise at all either from my room.
Breakfast: The breakfast is a lovely continental breakfast, complete with lots of fruit (which I was so thankful for!), muffins, breads, cereals, juices, and yogurt. There were more items, but I forget what they were.
Service: Andrea, the owner, is quite possibly the loveliest man I’ve ever met. It’s very clear he wants everyone to have a great stay, so ask for it, and he will make it happen. He’s seriously so kind and respectful.
This place is definitely not traditional in its layout. It’s easy to walk past because it’s not the only establishment in the building, so there is no marquee outside. You may wonder what you got yourself into for a second, but once you get up to the place and meet Andrea, you’ll be in love. Staying here really made my short stay in Florence so much better, and if I’m ever in town again, I will absolutely stay here!
