Great Stay!

We had a great stay here! Traveling as a family of three, having one bed upstairs gave some extra privacy. Breakfast was great ever morning and the owner/ manager was friendly and helpful. We ended up extending our stay for an extra day.

Don’t ever book here

Close to the train station and that is the only positive. After gaining entry into a gloomy dirty interior there are no signs to the actual property. A man shouted down to us beckoning us up to a dingy shabby hallway. He showed us the breakfast area with three tables and a microwave. He then opened the door into a room with a double bed, the baseboards were filthy and the room was cramped. The bathroom had an overpowering chemical smell and was dark and oppressive. The man then got aggressive when we said it was nothing like they presented on the booking.com site. They refused our cancellation and charged us 160 euros. Don’t book here it is unsanitary and doesn’t feel safe.

Close to the station: practicality and courtesy

I stayed at Dromedario for a family trip in December 2023. The accommodation for 4 people was basically a single, large room with 4 beds (double and 2 cots) plus bathroom. There is a common area with chairs and books. The door to the room is a bit "thin" and you can hear a lot of what is happening in the other rooms. For the rest, the equipment of the room is good, the bathroom is large, the level of cleanliness is good. Good presence of safe and fridge, excellent air conditioning (at least in winter). The breakfast is decent but what is most striking is the courtesy of the owner, who looks after the guests and manages the entire structure well. Location "ok" if you want to have a holiday arriving by train, given that Il Dromedario is a 5 minute walk from the station. Always on foot in 10 minutes you are in Santa Maria Novella and take the streets of the center. Trams also pass right under the structure. In the surrounding area there are restaurants, bars and shops. Prices appropriate to location and city.

Loved this place so much!!

I just checked out of this place, and I can’t say enough good things about it! Below are the pros because I have no cons.
Pros:
Location: It’s located less than a 10 minute walk from the train station and the Santa Maria Novella church, where many tours begin.
Room: I was traveling solo, so I stayed in a room for 1-2 people. The room was a great size - plenty of room to lay luggage out and still be able to move around with ease. The bed is firm, which I love - especially after a long day of travel. The bathroom was also large with extremely soft towels. The furnishings are nice and homey, like you’re staying in someone’s home instead of a hotel.
Quality of sleep: I had my first good night’s sleep in days here. I was worried with the layout of the place (three apartments facing a common area) the walls would be thin, and I’d be kept up by the other occupants. I didn’t hear a peep, and I know that’s not because they were silent because when I came in at night, I heard the man next door talking loudly on his phone when I was in the common area, but once I was in my room, I heard nothing. No street noise at all either from my room.
Breakfast: The breakfast is a lovely continental breakfast, complete with lots of fruit (which I was so thankful for!), muffins, breads, cereals, juices, and yogurt. There were more items, but I forget what they were.
Service: Andrea, the owner, is quite possibly the loveliest man I’ve ever met. It’s very clear he wants everyone to have a great stay, so ask for it, and he will make it happen. He’s seriously so kind and respectful.
This place is definitely not traditional in its layout. It’s easy to walk past because it’s not the only establishment in the building, so there is no marquee outside. You may wonder what you got yourself into for a second, but once you get up to the place and meet Andrea, you’ll be in love. Staying here really made my short stay in Florence so much better, and if I’m ever in town again, I will absolutely stay here!

Hearts Euro Tour 2022

Stayed here for 2 nights for the Hearts football match in fiorentina, was initially meant to be myself wife and child but I ended up going solo. Venue is 2min walk from train station and about 15 min walk to main squares. Look for the big brown door. Andrea the host as per other comments was so helpful, couldn't do enough to make my stay enjoyable. Room was big and beds comfy, ideal for a short stay, continental breakfast was nice start yo the day. If staying for a few days would recommend over paying extra for a hotel etc.
