Pleasant stay

We stayed for just one night as we had to leave Livorno early in the morning....
Arriving at 8 PM, we did not want to go out for dinner and took advantage of their restaurant with a view of the sunset we could not have made a better choice... staff and food were excellent.....
Very picturesque location with a sea view, spacious rooms, and high ceilings......
Adequate breakfast.....

Unprofessional ~ Rock Hard Mattress, Smelt …

Worst nights sleep. Bed was rock hard as were the pillows. The room smelt like faeces as soon as we walked in after checking in and didn’t get any better. Sprayed perfume when in the room and kept windows open to help. When checking in, we were told we could stay around the pool the following day after checking out of our room as didn’t need to leave until 4 for the airport. That morning after checking out another member of staff said we couldn’t. So we had to vacant the premises at 1pm!! Not helpful at all and I told him that I wasn’t happy about it. I then walked out but went back in the collect some towels for the pool (this was 9am) and caught him mimicking me to his work colleague. Very unprofessional. Don’t waste your money here as not a pleasant stay. Pools nice that’s about it.

Fantastic location, but........

We spent a weekend at this hotel, guests for a wedding. Upon arrival, the receptionist Walter was very kind and professional in his welcome. The hotel is in a fantastic location, with a nice pool, comfortable rooms. Unfortunately, an unpleasant episode occurred... When the bride-to-be requested a coffee, the facility replied that it could not fulfill the request because it does not manage the kitchen... but for heaven's sake, if a bride-to-be asks you for a coffee, either you put on a moka pot on the fly or you go to the bar, buy it, and bring it to her... come on...

Bitter stay.

My colleagues and I from NSU CLUB ITALIA (a classic car club) were guests at this facility from May 8 to May 10, 2026, for a national NSU gathering. We had a good time at this hotel located in an excellent (practically a few meters from the sea) and quiet position. Well-kept and clean, it offers a good breakfast, a high-quality reception, and uncovered internal parking. Unfortunately, the bathroom has really limited dimensions, but it is sufficient for the needs of a couple. Unfortunately, I was left disappointed by my stay in Livorno due to an incident that occurred to me on the morning of Saturday, May 9th. My wife and I went to the breakfast room at 8:45 AM where there was only the waitress. Shortly after, another middle-aged couple entered. We had finished having breakfast when a friend from Florence arrived, and my wife and I got up to greet him in front of the reception (just a few steps away). I left my bag hanging on the back of the chair as I considered the environment to be very quiet. After a few minutes, we went back to our room and I immediately realized that I had left my bag in the breakfast room. I went down immediately and the bag was gone. The waitress stated that a gentleman (the only one present in the room) had taken it, and at that point, I wondered why she hadn’t said anything to the man since the bag was placed on another table. But I said nothing, as the fault was mine. I knew that there were exactly 190 euros in the bag because I had counted them in the room before going down for breakfast (being the president of the club, I had to pay the tour guide). The group of rally participants accompanied me to the Carabinieri where I filed a formal complaint and then continued on to Pisa. Later, I joined the group. While I was in Pisa, I thought to ask Benedetta at the reception to check if the bag was in the facility (bins, trash cans, etc.). After a little more than twenty minutes from my request, Benedetta (very capable and cooperative) informed me that they had found the bag in the hotel (I later learned it was in a fire station). In the evening, they returned the bag to me with the credit cards, the keys to two apartments, the documents, etc. The 190 euros were clearly missing. At that point, I asked Mr. Guddemi, the hotel manager, to involve the insurance for compensation for the damage. Mr. Guddemi sent a detailed email to Mr. Andrea Rossi, the Unipol insurer, after which I also sent an email to Rossi... But Mr. Rossi had not read anything because he was "on vacation." In the end, I managed to get in touch with the insurance agent who told me that he cannot provide compensation because the oversight is mine (but it is still a theft!). According to my insurance agent, Unipol or the hotelier should have compensated the amount (appropriate for a Milan/Livorno trip) based on Article 1785 of the Civil Code. I am surprised that a hotel of a certain class, such as the Universal in Livorno, has taken out an incomplete policy that does not protect the customer in all aspects, considering that my request was for a modest amount...
