Garni Crystal in the heart

Mrs. Zita and Arianna are a guarantee, not to mention the excellent value for money!
We have been coming here forever and we always find the usual qualities of sympathy, care, genuineness and absolute cleanliness, such as to make everything shine. One of the first requirements we seek.
The rooms are lovely, romantic, warm and welcoming. The family meets every need required, whether it is an extra key, an addition or change of blankets, a correspondence collection.
Worthy of note is the breakfast, really wide and varied, quality as only in South Tyrol you find it: from sweets to savory, yogurt with granola and seeds of all kinds, jams of all tastes, spreads, juices and a separate corner for those who want to be careful with the line.
Parking and ski storage are also available, free of charge.

Great experience

I spent very pleasant days, cozy room (room 2+1), bathroom with window (which rarely happens) brand new fixtures and soundproofing glass, so absolute silence. Comfortable and comfortable mattress. Location for me optimal, 200m from the lifts and parking in front of the structure. Breakfast well stocked, with meats of excellent quality. Cleanliness of the room impeccable. There is also a well-kept and clean wellness area available to guests. I just have to congratulate the owners!! Thank you so much!!

Avoid if you want to enjoy your holiday and feel welcome

As I was in St Vigilio with my family, my parents thought to join us. Being a very hectic period for them, they needed to relax for a few days and they found last minute a room available here. Let’s start with the pros: it is conveniently located in the cozy village of St Vigilio (where we go since many years), it is close to the slopes and it is very clean (it is very hard to find a dirty place in South Tyrol anyways). Breakfast according to my parents was ok for the price and category. Rooms are a bit dated and bathrooms date back to the 1970s, which might not been so tempting. There is a small wellness area that my parents didn’t try as there was nothing to drink and it didn’t feel very welcoming neither. But what is shocking here is the owner’s attitude. It seems a joke that you pay for feeling the most unwelcome guest but here is the case. Her attitude was quite rude (first time it happens after 40 years of holidays in St Vigilio) and made them feel very uncomfortable throughout their stay. So, what was supposed to be a short relaxing break (the very few days they could take off at the moment) turned out to be the oddest holiday: you pay people supposed to work in hospitality, but they just seem to wait that you leave asap. They didn’t pretend to find luxury, just a smile and a welcoming place to spend a few days off - which is the reason why one might decide to spend his time and money.
What was even more upsetting is that my parents unfortunately left a bag there (we are all humans and I bet almost everyone who travelled forgot or lost at least one thing in his life). A few weeks after I was again in St Vigilio and so my husband stopped by to collect it (I wanted to avoid to deal with the owner, so I asked him). In order to avoid any discussions and sort this out quickly, he tried to be polite but the owner first didn’t trust him (of course one comes to St Vigilio with three small kids to steal bags around) and then ranting against my parents and people who forget their stuff she gave him the bag. Her attitude was once again very rude and impolite and therefore we can’t recommend this place.

Very enjoyable stay!!

This was our fourth stay at Garni Cristallo and as with our previous visit it did not disappoint. Perfectly situated & walking distance from everywhere. Room cleaned daily, fresh towels each day. Breakfast each day was nice - a choice of cereals, fruit, yogurt, bread, meat and cheese. We've already booked to go again!

Good price & quality

This has been our second time to San Vigilio – this time in Cristallo. Overall all was nice and clean, no issues there. Spa and sauna were available, which after a whole day of skiing is just a bliss.
Some observations to keep in mind though:
• Access is good, easy to park – easy to get your stuff in. Suggest take rooms on the ground floor (less walking!).
• Rooms not too big, but then again who cares/minds – there is a lounge area available.
• First station of the lifts is like 100m away – easy to walk, and if one feels lazy there is also storage for equipment there. The garni has it free of charge (of course), but in case you’re lazy. Like I was…
• Phone situation – so the garni has a landline, however the setup is: outside callers need to call the line, which is redirected to the owner, who then needs to walk down to the reception, swap something and the caller needs to call again. Cumbersome! Better they would have said no phone, and there would be no hopes.
• Internet access – yes, it is offered free of charge, but signal is VERY weak and slow. Alternative is to get your own access. Getting a sim card is a pain though – one must drive to Bruneck, as they are not available in San Vigilio. BTW: you WILL need an ID or they will not sell it to you! although there is a pretty big phone shop on the main street in Bruneck (most western part of the main shopping street - Stadtgasse, walk ‘downstairs’) where it is possible without the freaken ID.
• Once you’re done the final payment is in cash – personally I would be more happy with a pin terminal.
• The main building doesn’t have a ”pool” but a “WHIRLpool” (small difference in words, big in size; still – very nice)
Other observation - San Vigillio, after 7pm, is pretty much DEAD – attractions are limited. Not many restaurants, and prices are quite high (160euro for a 4 persons dinner without any bells and whistles, moderate drinks).
Yes, I would recommend this place to anybody. Yet no – I would not stay there again. Not because I didn’t like it, but because there are so many other places I haven’t been to yet!
